Volunteer panels develop scope, select contractors, oversee research, and review results Research contractors selected on a competitive proposal basis All publications receive quality attention to accuracy, relevance, and value to our audience Results are posted online and available for download free of charge to everyone

12 Annual Research Cycle December-February Open solicitation for new problem statements February Review proposals and select research contractors. April-June Begin review and evaluation of problem statements. January Begin synthesis meetings. July New projects selected from problem statements. November-December Begin issuing RFPs for new projects. July-September Open solicitation for new Synthesis and Legal topics. October-November Begin forming project panels and Synthesis topic panels. August-September Solicit nominations for panel volunteers. October Select new Synthesis and Legal topics.

15 Research Process: How ACRP takes a research idea to final publication A project panel is formed Panel develops scope of work from an original problem statement Panel reviews contractor proposals Panel oversees progress of selected contractor in completing the scope, through interim deliverables, teleconferences, and meetings Panel comments on draft final report to improve its value to the industry

16 5 Ways You Can Get Involved 1. Submit a research idea (known as a problem statement ) 2. Volunteer for a project panel 3. Prepare a research proposal 4. Respond to a request for information or complete a survey 5. Use the research results

17 1. Submit a Problem Statement Provide a general description of the problem Briefly describe the research proposed and how it relates to the problem Include an estimate of the funds and time needed to complete the research Detailed guidance is available on ACRP s website

18 Research Topics Criteria Projects must: Be relevant, applicable, and valuable to airports Be technically feasible Not be duplicative ACRP Oversight Committee selects projects that focus on applied research

20 2. Volunteer for a Project Panel Project panels provide technical guidance and counsel to projects from start to end Nominations to serve on project panels usually due in August or September Self-nominate or be nominated by a colleague

21 3. Submit a Proposal Any interested individual, agency, or others may submit a proposal in response to a problem statement RFP Detailed instructions for proposers are available on ACRP's website:

22 4. Respond to our Surveys Your answers to surveys from ACRP commissioned researchers are essential to getting the research right!
