PROCEDURES Describe the critical steps undertaken to achieve policy intent. Are succinct, factual and to the point. Are usually expressed in using lists. 18 COMPLIANCE GUIDE The intent of the Compliance Guide for CSU Auxiliary Organizations is to summarize/cite legal and regulatory requirements and applicable policy in CSU Executive Orders (EO) or within the Integrated CSU Administrative Manual (ICSUAM.) 18

19 COMPLIANCE GUIDE It is advisory and only includes an overview of statutes, regulation, and systemwide policy. Brief descriptions of the many laws and policies applicable to CSU Auxiliary Organizations are included. The Guide does not establish CSU Policy and does not substitute a full consideration of underlying law or policy. 19

20 COMPLIANCE GUIDE - CAVEAT It is NOT a complete or exhaustive listing of all policy and regulation, but an attempt has been made to include information that would be most useful to managers of CSU Auxiliary Organizations. 20

22 SOUND BUSINESS PRACTICES Title and requires that CSU auxiliary organizations operate in conformity with the policies of the CSU Board of Trustees and the campus. One of the objectives of an auxiliary organization is to provide fiscal procedures and management systems designed to protect its assets and interests in accordance with sound business practices along with those of the campus. These guidelines are designed to assist CSU auxiliary organizations in achieving this end. 22

23 SOUND BUSINESS PRACTICES Sound business practices are a set of protocol, standards, instructions, regimen, of practices that in the judgment of management contribute to achieving a targeted level of control or quality. They are not mandates as to specificity of implementation, but animate underlying control objectives and principles. 23
