Best practice = submit application even if unsure it s ) Parents Right to Know - make available to parents (often included in Student Handbook - compliance) Schedule Title I parent meeting and review school-parent compact and campus parent involvement policy during meeting. Provide info in language and format parents understand. (compliance) Distribute school-parent compacts (compliance) Distribute parent involvement policies (compliance) Conduct professional development for staff on the value and contribution of parents (compliance) Apply for Substitute System of Time & Effort, if applicable Review and revise homeless plan (process for identification and service for homeless students) Collect Time & Effort documentation, if applicable Ongoing Training needs for ID&R and NGS for LEAs Review the number of ESL-certified and/or bilingually-certified teachers to meet the needs of your ELLs. Check documentation to prove fluency for newly hired bilingually-certified teachers. If district hasn t done so, submit to local newspaper the announcement of Nondiscrimination statement for publication prior to beginning of school year. Carl D. Download the following: Student Attendance Accounting Handbook TEDS (CO22) Review initial PEIMS data for new courses. Request itinerary from Career Prep/Practicum teachers. Make sure all have completed WBL training. Set up Advisory Committee meetings Review at-risk criteria (both state and local, if applicable) Begin identification of at-risk students Review budget and ensure that 52% of expenditures are for direct services. 3 September Charter Schools: SC5050 opens to request additional funding for significant expansion - due in November ESSA Consolidated Application due for LEAs with no 12-month federally funded staff September 30 End of Grant period for previous school year. Funds should be obligated by this date. File federal records for grant period that ends this month (maintain for seven years) Complete Campus Improvement Plan (CIP) and set dates for regular review of plan for effectiveness. Ensure that the 10 SW components (or 8 Targeted Assistance components) are included. Apply for Substitute System of Time & Effort, if applicable Begin parent conferences in elementary school and review school-parent compact during conferences Engage in ongoing consultation with PNPs. Collect Time & Effort documentation, if applicable Coordinate with the school district staff within the first grading period of the school year; determine individual needs for instructional and support services; identify available resources and make referrals to address needs; coordinate with entities to ensure child has access to appropriate services; monitor and document progress. Send out Newsletter Review the number of ESL-certified and/or bilingually-certified teachers to meet the needs of your ELLs. If a PNP is participating in your Title III Program, ensure there is communication between the school district and the PNP on identification, testing, program activities, and professional development. Begin reviewing PGPs (4-year plans) and coding students for PEIMS snapshot day. Request following reports : SGR1600 Career & Technology Code Verification and the SGR1650 Career & Technology Audit Review and compare 1st 6 weeks Principals and Superintendents FTE report to in house FTE report. Determine if new CTE teachers, counselors or principals would benefit from the CTE PD conducted by TEA and A&M Corpus. Submit applications. Carl D. Perkins - Perkins Program Effectiveness Report Due Oct. 1 (date may fluctuate) Preliminary PBMAS Data Released - be watching for staging data to be released in the fall. MOA (Method of Administration) notices sent to LEAs. Ensure that SCE plan is included in Campus Improvement Plan Ensure at-risk students have been identified and services begun Page 3
4 October Private Non-Profit Affirmations & Equitable Services Worksheets due (only districts serving PNPs) SC9000 available - Annual Survey for Children in Local Facilities for Neglected/Delinquent - due in December - only LEAs with these facilities (most likely Cherokee ISD, San Angelo ISD, San Felipe Del Rio CISD and TLCA) Comparability - Comparability Assurance Documents (all LEAs) and Comparability Computation Forms (Brownwood, San Angelo, Del Rio, TLCA) are available and usually due in November. Engage in ongoing consultation with PNPs. Collect Time & Effort documentation, if applicable Attend Fall ACET, if possible Review PEIMS coding for LEP students and participation in Bilingual/ESL Programs for PEIMS Snapshot Day - the last Friday of October. Ensure the school district is implementing the Title III Program the ESSA Consolidated Application PS3106. If a PNP is participating in your Title III Program, continue to communicate about the program activities and professional development. Attend National Migrant Conference Ensure the school district is implementing the Title III Program the ESSA Consolidated Application PS3106. Continue to communicate and consulate with the PNP for possible participation for the next school year. Start preparing the Comprehensive Needs Assessment that your school district will conduct for the Title III Program. Be prepared to receive TELPAS results for parent notification of progress and/or attainment of the English language. Attend the ACET Conference if possible. Review course offerings for current and next year. Adjust courses to create a better coherent sequence. Take in consideration teachers leaving/hiring that might disrupt CTE coherent sequence. Make sure Perkins funding are being expended. Take into consideration items that cannot be purchased with Perkins funds to be purchased with state CTE funds (next year s budget). Conduct program evaluation for effectiveness of SCE program Review progress of at-risk students and revise services as Identify additional at-risk students as Page 10
11 May Continue CNA meetings and begin planning process. Review needs in areas such as student achievement, curriculum, instruction and assessment. CNA must be complete before submitting ESSA Application. Complete program evaluation for all programs and strategies including PNP. CNA - Parent Meeting to evaluate and revise parent involvement policy, school-parent compact and Title I program (date needed for compliance) Conduct planning meetings with campus staff regarding ESSA consolidated application. Review budget and activities of current grant - amendment needed? Will remaining funds meet carryover threshold? Send STAAR/EOC information to parents (compliance) DIP/CIP should be at least rough draft stage. Remember that DIP/CIP should guide ESSA application process. Engage in ongoing consultation with PNPs. Collect Time & Effort documentation, if applicable Collect Semi-Annual Certification (Time & Effort), if applicable. Attend Spring Federal Programs ESC15 Attend Project SMART Training Conduct a Comprehensive Needs Assessment for your Title III Program. Notify the parents of ELLs of the students progress and/or attainment of the English language. Continue to communicate and consulate with the PNP for possible participation for the next school year. Attend the spring Federal Programs Update. Make sure Perkins funding has been expended. Next year Perkins grant ADC form opens. Allocation amounts are released. Secure number of students in certifications/licensures attained.
