Genworth Children s Advantage Classic In our headquarters community of Richmond, Virginia, thousands of youth are positively impacted by our annual Genworth Children s Advantage Classic. In 2007, co-hosts Andre Agassi and Stefanie Graf welcomed music legend James Taylor to this charitable event. Together with Genworth, more than $600,000 was raised in one night! Combined with the previous two years of proceeds, more than $1.5 million was generated for deserving charities. SOS-Kinderdorf International During the next four years, Genworth will commit $1 million to SOS-Kinderdorf International to help support youth across Europe. Through Genworth s Think It Possible scholarship program, children residing in one of the SOS European Children s Villages will now be able to achieve the dream of going to a postsecondary university. HABITAT FOR HUMANITY An old man in a sleeping bag helped Canadian fourth-grader Sarah Murray understand the meaning of home. Her inspiration ultimately will help a deserving family achieve the dream of homeownership as part of Genworth s Meaning of Home essay contest. In recognition of Sarah s winning entry, Genworth fully funded the construction of a home in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. Sarah also won a new computer so she can further hone her already excellent writing skills. lt ' 2" ln ' 26" Sydney, Australia 'Backyard Blitz' volunteers painted houses and created gardens for Forsight residents. UNITED WAY of Australia Through 2009, the Genworth Foundation has committed a total of $600,000 AUD to the United Way of Australia. These funds will support several United Way partners, including the Forsight Foundation. Genworth Volunteers have actively engaged with the Forsight Foundation by creating gardens and performing routine maintenance at the centers, which offer care to disabled individuals in a group home setting.

Alzheimer s disease is no different. Genworth supports the Alzheimer s Association through a multifaceted approach to battle this progressive, incurable and ultimately fatal brain disorder. Our decade-long support began as individualized, grassroots engagement in partnership with local Alzheimer s Association chapters throughout the United States. CENTER FOR VOLUNTEER CAREGIVING Genworth Volunteers in Raleigh, North Carolina partner with The Center for Volunteer Caregiving to help seniors maintain independence and dignity. On a weekly basis, volunteers provide help ranging from a trip to the doctor or grocery store to a friendly smile and a ready ear. In 2007, employees volunteered more than 1,000 hours with the program, making them an important part of allowing elders to stay in their homes for years longer, improving their quality of life.

11 Building Capacity The Nonprofit Executive Scholarship Program As part of our commitment to fully support our community partners around the world, Genworth has teamed with the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia to offer scholarship opportunities for nonprofit executive education. Past scholarship recipients have honed their business skills, enabling them to have a sustainable and positive impact on those in their service and furthering their organizations missions. The Skills-Based Volunteering Program When you think of volunteering, you probably think about helping to build a home for a family or delivering food to people in need. In addition to these critical services, what if we could go one step further and apply the business skills and expertise of our Genworth employees to help organizations in our communities succeed? That s the thinking behind Genworth s innovative Skills-Based Volunteering Program. Through this new form of volunteerism, high-performing teams of employees help charity organizations by offering technical skills for activities such as creating a financial plan or developing a marketing campaign. 12 Investing In Our Communities The Application Process The Genworth Foundation makes investments in our global communities by providing funds to support nonprofit programs in one or more of our focus areas. Our focus areas include: providing educational and mentoring opportunities for at-risk youth; enriching seniors lives by battling Alzheimer s disease, supporting home modifications and celebrating caregivers; and supporting safe and affordable housing as well as other basic needs. Due to the large volume of requests, Genworth is unable to grant every proposal. Unsolicited proposals are not encouraged. Qualification considerations include geographic location, synergy with Genworth s focus areas and involvement of Genworth employees. Community support is awarded annually. For consideration, applications must be submitted at by August 15th for funding for the following year. A very limited number of charitable sponsorships may also be available. Applications follow the same process and timeline. No funding is available for individual or commercial interests, religious or political organizations or programs not aligned with our focus areas. In Richmond, Virginia, funding for educational programs serving at-risk youth is supported solely through our annual Children s Advantage Classic. A Request for Proposal will be issued for funding consideration (the time of year varies). Applications for Genworth s Skills-Based Volunteering Program and Nonprofit Executive Scholarship Program are intermittently available at based on program availability in specific communities.
