1 Building Users Group Meeting 12/04/ Prop A/AA/Measure J Where are we now? South Campus - Work is continuing on South Campus, with the expectancy of occupancy date of January South Campus FF&E is underway. Deba and BUG are working on getting furniture ordered for the Student Services Building. Move in date: late January This move in date may pose a problem for the Student Services department due to registration etc. LRC - LRC will be vacated after the move to South Campus. LRC will be modernized. The Village will be converted to accommodate the Library while its current location is being modernized. A-Building - A- Building (East Wing) is being modernized now. The west side of the A building will be modernized, once vacated, with a projected completion date of January D-Bldg A/C The contractor pulled out. Currently, in the process of working with a second contractor to and complete the A/C. B-Building Bathrooms - Will be going to bid soon. There is a problem with dust. H-building - Hoping that state funding will come through, possibly in January Deba is trying to get money. Total cost of the H Building renovation is approximately $45 - $46 million. Where are we going? Educational Master Plan will be completed based upon Program Reviews. Educational Master Plan is going to be updated in January Once Program Reviews are completed, the Facilities Master Plan can be updated. o Program Review Need to be completed between now and late January/early February. Land Acquisition Trade-Tech has successfully acquired many properties around the campus. We are trying to get all the property that we can, even if we

2 can t build on it right now We can use convert it to a parking lot. The opportunities are there and the prices are reasonable for future acquisitions of property. Meetings with BUG groups Mary would like to meet weekly with BUG group individually, on a weekly basis. 2. South Campus FF&E Need to work with the Work Environment Committee on things that are related to buildings 3. Meetings What is FF&E? FF&E is Furniture, Fixture, and Equipment. What needs to be done? There are many decisions that need to be made before recommendations are given to the WEC Develop standards/guidelines: For how we want our school to look Visit showroom The second week of January 2009 a team of BUG Users and Deba, will visit a showroom. Some choices will be compiled in a hard copy packet to give a general idea of the color schemes, and which would be preferable. Task chairs will be on campus for testing and feedback. o Chairs will be here next week (12/8-12/2008) in the VP of Administration s Office. General parameters o Example; Upholstered versus non-upholstered chairs not yet decided o Task Chairs/Guest chairs: not yet decided Color schemes - different on each floor or the same throughout the building: not yet decided. Who and when? - Each person responsible for the buildings is asked to schedule meetings with Mary weekly. Always make sure that there is participation from the User s Group. If someone is not present at the BUG meetings, other buildings not in attendance, stress the importance of their attendance, because their input is pertinent. Donna Lichtman requested that Joyce Livingston (LRC) be an alternate for BUG Next BUG meeting will be next week, we will then establish a meeting date in January. Please inform Mary if you can t attend, however, do send a representative. Committee members will contact Lillian for a next week s individual BUG meeting, then the recurring meeting day/time will be established. 2

3 The big BUG meeting will be the first Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. The big BUG meeting may meet periodically, on an as needed basis. The G & J Meeting will be on 9:30 a.m. 4. BUG Group Makes Recommendations to WEC 5. Other How do we want to do this? Some BUG members are on WEC and they can represent BUG (Joe Ratcliff, and Margaret Murphy) The Executive Cabinet will be asked to establish a Master Calendar Meeting Adjourned: 2:01 p.m. 3
