Project Summary Goals of Earth Week: Celebrate environmental efforts on campus Lead up to Global Earth Day (generally taking place the weekend directly following Earth Week) Raise awareness about various issues Unify the campus surrounding sustainability Have a lot of fun in the process!
Project Summary Accomplishments & Successes Making Earth Week bigger and better than ever! More collaboration, more visibility/presence, and a stronger mission statement. We established a strong team of committed individuals.
Project Summary Challenges & Obstacles The coordinators were new to every single step of the process, from being a member of STeam and a project coordinator, to building and organizing a team and learning how funding is attained. Overall, we wish we started on funding issues much earlier and applied for grants. This is the area in which we were most disorganized. We were unable to find coordinators for next year due to a variety of factors (members involved in other groups and transferring schools).
Project Summary Timeline August September Recruit team, hold first meeting September November Create position titles Decide on a weekly meeting time/day; begin official meetings Decide on theme and 1-3 big events November December Identify strategy to get non-environmental clubs involved Winter Break Start on flyer design, website & Facebook creation
Project Summary January Recruit part 2 Plan bonding activities February Contact hall associations for funding, get on the agenda Finalize all donations and events March Make fund requests Get logo approved Create flyer; Release publicity video, website and flyer Wrap-up event logistics April Chalking EARTH WEEK!
