Opportunity to earn up to $5,122 toward tuition or student loans! Minnesota Reading Corps and Minnesota Math Corps offer students and recent graduates the opportunity to change the future. Committing to a year of public service (full or part time), our members serve in local schools where they help children to build reading and math skills. In exchange, they receive a living allowance (paid every two weeks), a federal education award, leadership development and incredible satisfaction. We offer great opportunities to build your resume, explore potential career pathways and gain experience. 2 Donate your furniture No child should sleep on the floor. You can help by donating gently used items to help out a lowincome family in need. Items accepted include couches, love seats, lamps, recliners, rockers, kitchen tables and chairs, end table, night stands, dressers and complete bed sets (no king). Furniture with rips, stains, rust, tears or mold cannot be accepted. Tax receipts and pick up is available. Contact the Community Furniture Program at (320) WACOSA WACOSA is looking for volunteers to help in a variety of ways. Volunteers will assist in projects to enhance the quality of the environment for the benefit of clients such as painting, landscaping, gardens, patio design and care. Volunteers are also needed to assist with vehicle checks and care to insure safe and comfortable transportation for staff members and clients. WACOSA empowers over 500 adults with disabilities in central Minnesota by helping them to reach their fullest potential, offer business solutions and build community. 3 Volunteer with St. Cloud Area Crisis Nursery St. Cloud Area Crisis Nursery seeks to strengthen and nurture families, in cooperation with community organizations and individuals, through a family-focused service to protect children from possible harm and provide support and validation for parents. They are looking for volunteers who will have the opportunity to counsel and support families from a crisis line via a cell phone from their home. Volunteers will be responsible for answering the crisis line from 5:00 pm-8:00 am Monday through Friday and over weekends. Volunteers can determine their availability and can help as many hours as their schedule allows. Volunteers will attend two-hour orientation training and come together every other month for two hour training with the coordinator. Trainings are fun and casual. Everyone is able to volunteer, but they require volunteers to be friendly, personable, professional and able to work under stressful situations. 4 Engage. Connect. Involve The Greater St. Cloud Area RSVP engages men and women age 55 or better in meaningful volunteer opportunities at over 200 human service agencies throughout the community. We are seeking compassionate volunteers in a variety of positions; including many roles with flexible commitments. RSVP staff will work with you to cater your volunteer schedule so it fulfills your needs and has a positive impact on your community. Catholic Charities Emergency Services mission is simple: To provide access to healthy food for people faced with missing meals. We connect people able and willing to help, with those facing challenges in meeting their own or their family's basic needs. They need food shelf help!volunteers are needed to stock non-perishable shelves and refrigerated items at the Food Shelf on Friday afternoons (noon-4:00pm).
