2 INTERNSHIP APPLICATION INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE HEAT GROUP The HEAT Group s internship program provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn and serve through first-hand participation in the exciting world of the Professional Sports and Entertainment Industry. The program is intended to provide knowledge, tools, skills, and experiences that an Intern will readily apply to future challenges and professional pursuits within this industry. Candidates will have a diverse, challenging experience and be required to make a genuine contribution to The HEAT Group. The HEAT Group which includes the Miami HEAT and the AmericanAirlines Arena; houses the World Champions NBA basketball team and is operating one of the busiest arena in the world! The HEAT group is committed to providing Five Star service to its employees and guests as well as being the professional sports model of the 21 st Century. If your goal is a career in professional sports and entertainment, you have made the right decision to apply for an internship with The HEAT Group. We welcome all applicants who have demonstrated academic excellence and have displayed an interest and commitment to the Sports and Entertainment Industry. While South Florida residents are preferred, students residing outside of South Florida are encouraged to apply. THE APPLICATION PROCESS Please complete all sections of the application thoroughly. Although providing the information requested is voluntary, failure to provide complete answers may affect the review and consideration of your internship application. Using this application, you can apply for a maximum of three types of Internships. We recommend that you do this by completing and submitting only one application and indicating the Internship(s) that you are applying for. Your application packet must include all of the following in order to be considered: Internship Application Form Acknowledgement of Responsibilities Writing Sample (One page statement of intent describing why you want to be an intern for The HEAT Group) Cover Letter and Resume Two Letters of Recommendation An Unofficial Transcript Please note: The application and all requested materials must be submitted together. Please keep a photocopy of your completed application for your files. Given the volume of incoming applications, we will not be able to return any of the materials we receive. Failure to meet any of the above-mentioned requirements may delay, or even prevent, the review of your application. 3 APPLICATION DEADLINES The HEAT Group accepts applications year-round. However, we suggest you submit your application packet at least two months prior to the period for which you are applying. Fall Internships, August/September-December 31 st Deadline: May/early June Spring Internships, January-May/June (through season) Deadline: October/early December Summer Internships, May-August/early September* Deadline: January/early February Entire Season Internships, August/September-May/June Deadline: May/early June *Please Note: A minimal number of Summer Internships are available. CONFIRMATION Applications will be kept active for a period of 12 months. If selected, we will contact you to set up an interview. ACADEMIC CREDIT To be eligible for The HEAT Group s Internship Program, it is required that the candidate will earn academic credit for the internship and/or the internship is a requirement for graduation. Candidates must be enrolled at a college/university. A letter written by a school administrator on the college/university s letterhead must be submitted on or before the first day of the internship start date. The letter should verify that the internship is for academic credit and/or graduation. WORKING HOURS Company operating hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. Each internship position dictates hours. Please Note: Interns are expected to commit to at least 15 hours per week. RELOCATION & HOUSING Interns are responsible for their own relocation and housing expenses.
