4 Maintenance Ensure preventative maintenance is current eg. lagged pipes, guttering, fire safety equipment Create maintenance schedule and/or checklist Regular Upkeep Marae Facilities Functioning Wharenui, Wharekai, Wharepaku that will support all aspects of Wairua Build Wharenui Reinstate Tamariki Playground Marae facilitiies that are Health and Safety Compliant Community Gardens That the gardens are available for use by whanau and/or organisations That kai from the gardens can be used for marae purposes & for the Food Bank Available to support and engage our rangatahi /youth into positive activities and outcomes Education Site Provide a facility for nurturing Tikanga and Te Reo Maori Provide a facility for a variety of wananga including Mau Rakau, Raranga, Hauora, Rongoa Provide a facility for local schools Cafe & Art Gallery/Kaumatua Housing This is part of a long term goal

6 Kaumatua Actively seek the services of a local Kaumatua Te Reo To promote Te Reo in all Marae based activities and the wider community Actively encourage the use of Te Reo on the Marae Powhiri To welcome manuhiri in a culturally appropriate manner/format Tangihanga To support Whanau Pani/Kirimate to poroporoaki their whanaunga in a culturally appropriate environment Wananga Support and develop all aspects of Te Ao Maori in both the Marae and wider community

8 Health & Social Services To enhance existing relationships to ensure access to culturally appropriate services To establish a Marae Based Health & Social Service School/Community To enhance closer links and relationships with local schools, community groups, local and central government Groups Community Events Hui/Celebrations To host Marae based events that provide opportunites for whanau and the community to access, connect, contribute and enjoy the Marae To expand the Marae involvement in community based events and activites Multicultural Use To encourage further engagement of all cultures and nationalities at the Marae & in Marae based activities To encourage the many different cultures and nationalities to embrace the Marae as their place of belonging To expand the Marae involvement in multicultural events and activities Tourism Possibilities This is part of a long term goal

10 Tikanga To further develop and implement a tikanga and kawa that is consistent with mana whenua yet recognises our own tino rangatiratanga and uniqueness To ensure all users of the Marae have a clear understanding of the tikanga and kawa of this Marae Governance To have a robust decision making structure that is sustainable with appropriate succession planning Policies and practices are regularly reviewed and updated To ensure good financial management To establish boundaries between decision making and operational roles Operational To implement policy To ensure practices match the implemented policies To ensure the Marae has operational roles, the appropriate people to fill these roles and succession planning in place Promotions To promote the marae as a key facility for all users in the community To promote the marae as a place of cultural learning and experiences Shared Vision To consider the responsibilities of the marae You are all part of the marae To create a sense of ownership for all people
