Please find included: - An application form - A Job Description - Appointment Criteria Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ōtepoti is a full primary school located in Fairfield, Dunedin. We are a Te Aho Matua special character school. We currently have a roll of 42 students ranging from year 1 to year 8. We are a decile 2F, U1 Kura. We acknowledge our kura whānau as being highly motivated and engaged in our kaupapa and the learning needs of our ākonga. The wairua of our kura is warm, positive and purposeful. Our kura relies on the mutual support of the whānau and the wider kura community involved in Māori education. Our kura has a steady annual increase in roll number and we will be extending our teaching programme to include year 9 students in We are investigating a variety of educational pathways to shape our Y9-13 Te Kura Poutama programme. All kaimahi at kura are highly valued and are instrumental in the smooth operation of our kura and the overall maintenance of the kura environment. The teaching team has always worked closely together in many facets of the teaching, learning and custodial needs of our programme. The Board is extremely supportive of the kaimahi and places a priority on their performance and well being. We look forward to receiving your application. 5 POSITION OVERVIEW SCHOOL JOB TITLE/ TENURE SALARY SCALE CLASS LEVEL Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Ōtepoti Teacher - Base Scale / Permanent Base Scale & Māori Immersion Teaching Allowance The successful applicant will teach 100% in te reo Māori in the tuakana class. Strengths in Te Aho Matua, Māori medium multi-level teaching are essential. Kura is seeking versatile applicants with the ability to work across multiple class levels. COMMENCEMENT Term TERM Permanent Applicants must be able to satisfy the criteria of the relevant Professional Standards, as detailed in the current Primary Teachers Collective Agreement and the Education Council Practising Teacher Criteria and Standards for the Teaching Profession. Key Tasks and Relationships The successful applicant will: Create an engaging and positive learning environment; Identify the academic, social, physical and emotional needs of ākonga and subsequently plan and deliver a differentiated programme to meet those needs; Assess ākonga progress against learning objectives based on Te Aho Matua; Utilise current, ākonga-centred pedagogies, including inquiry approaches and etools, within the akomanga; Fulfill kura expectations and requirements in relation to teaching and learning, ākonga care and ākonga well-being; Enhance ākonga rangatiratanga and achievement through the establishment of a positive and supportive classroom environment; Establish warm, positive relationships with whānau, undertaking ongoing communication and reporting as required; Be involved in the everday life of the kura, collaborating with kaimahi, sharing administrative responsibilities, and participating fully in a learning-team and in kura-wide activities and programmes.

6 APPOINTMENT CRITERIA Evidence of recent successful classroom practice, utilising Te Aho Matua. Evidence of strength in the planning, delivery and assessment of differentiated literacy and numeracy programmes. Evidence of openness to new ideas and innovative approaches to learning, including use of Digital Technologies and Māori ways of learning. Evidence of ability to successfully plan, implement and evaluate programmes across Te Aho Matua. Evidence of ability to establish and maintain positive, engaging and harmonious learning environments and relationships. Evidence of ability to communicate openly and constructively with others. Evidence of ability, or flexibility, to work at multiple levels of the kura. Evidence of commitment to own professional learning and the professional learning of others with Te Reo Māori and Te Aho Matua. Evidence of ability to relate positively and professionally with all members of the school community - ākonga, kaimahi and whānau.
