4 Ryder Cup Background The Ryder Cup, with it s unique format offering competition between the finest golfers from Continental Europe against their counterparts from the The USA, is Company now widely recognised Name as one of the biggest sporting events in the world. This will be the second time that Scotland has hosted The Ryder Cup. It was first hosted at Muirfield in The growth and popularity of the Ryder Cup in recent years, which has coincided with the rapid development of the European Tour, has been nothing short of spectacular. As the prestige and popularity of the Ryder Cup has grown, so has the event attendance, media coverage and the global television audience.

The portal is hosted on Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) website The portal is a joint initiative between Ryder Cup Europe, the Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise. Open to businesses across the whole of the UK. First time that a series of private contracts will be available through what has been a public sector portal

15 What is Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) PCS is provided by the Scottish Procurement Directorate, it is the national public sector advertising portal for Scotland Launched in October 2008 Is a key part of the Scottish Government s Public Procurement Reform Programme Public Procurement Reform aims to drive up standards in the way public sector buys goods, services and works. PCS provides suppliers with access to opportunities posted to the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) notices, lower value contracts commonly known as sub-threshold notices and opportunities to be invited to low value/risk contracts known as Quick Quotes and view contract award notices PCS is a free service for suppliers and provides an open and transparent resource which promotes a competitive market environment. For suppliers PCS provides a one-stop, single access point to public sector contract opportunities

22 Choosing Commodity Categories It is important that you select all commodity categories which are a business interest to your organisation. Your free alerts are determined by the commodity categories you choose. There is no limit to the number of commodity categories you can choose. The Ryder Cup is a category in it s own right.

25 Sub-Contract Opportunities The sub-contracting facility allows prime contractors on public contracts to advertise subcontract opportunities on PCS The sub-contract notice facility has two main benefits: Provides opportunities to suppliers who may not be in a position to bid for the main contract but are capable of delivering works, products or services to the project Provide the contractor to establish their supply chain in a competitive environment Only those contractors who have won a public sector contract or have pre-qualified to tender can advertise sub-contract opportunities All sub-contract opportunities are business 2 business opportunities EU procurement rules do not apply
