3 S 2 ERC Mission Statement The mission of the Security and Software Engineering Research Center is to conduct a program of applied and basic research on software security, system security, cyber security and software technology problems of interest to its members. The goal of this research is to enable security and software technology gains within member organizations.

16 Center Success Stories Northrop Grumman wins DHS contract in 2015 to strengthen mobile security applications. Press release mentions in particular that one S 2 ERC project enhanced their work iconectiv used a project entitled Components of a Modern Quality Approach to Software Development to support their key process areas to win a major contract. A S 2 ERC project received a provisional patent for Systems and Methods for Malware Detection. U.S. Patent No. 8,763,127 The Design Metrics research won the Schwarzkopf Prize for Technological Innovation

18 Center Success Stories Spotlighting the Code project led to a paper voted best paper in a decade in software maintenance S 2 ERC funding support has increased 93.9% to $2,914,120 since Phase II began on May 15, Affiliates specifically stated that Center participation accelerated internal R&D or that it avoided new R&D costs.
