3 Rural Development, a branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture has over 40 programs aimed at helping business owners, communities, Indian tribes, schools and universities, health care providers and much more.
4 What is RURAL? Depending on the program, rural means less than 50,000 people (all but Fargo, Bismarck, and Grand Forks ). Rural is less than 20,000 people in the Community Facilities (CF) program.
5 USDA Rural Development: Housing loans and subsidies Business loans (grants to public bodies) Grants to farmers, ranchers and cooperatives to add-value Grants to farmers and businesses for energy efficiency or renewable energy Community Facility loans and grants Distance learning and telemedicine projects. Infrastructure for small towns & countryside. And more!

7 RED Loan to Dakota Valley Electric Cooperative for $740,000 to loan at 0% for ten years to Giants a sunflower seed manufacturer in Wahpeton
8 REDLG $300,000 loan to Roughrider Electric for expansion of a Dickinson childcare facility, KinderKidz The 16k square foot facility will educate 143 children. Childcare was a top need uncovered by RD s ND 2.0 town hall series.
