12 BBSRC Industry Collaboration Schemes Industry Partnership Awards (IPA) IPAs are academic-led research grants with a minimum of 10% cash contribution to project costs from an industrial partner LINK projects Collaborative, pre-competitive research between one or more companies and one or more research-base partners. BBSRC support limited to a maximum of 50% of total eligible costs Industrial CASE PhD studentships with an enhanced experience for the student through partnership with an industrial partner, which is a UK registered company. Overseas companies are considered on a case-by-case basis.
13 Industrial Partnership Awards (IPAs) What is an IPA? A collaborative, pre-competitive research project between one or more companies and one or more research-base partners. Criteria Industrial partners should either be registered in the UK or have a UK R&D or manufacturing site (if not, please consult BBSRC prior to applying) Industry partner(s) must contribute 10% of the full economic cost of the project in cash Academics request the remainder (ie: 90% of the full cost of the project) from BBSRC. If successful, BBSRC support is limited to 80% of that requested and the remainder is made up from institutional core funds. How to apply Apply through Je-S to any responsive mode deadline Industrial contribution listed under project partners Additional attachments Letters of support from all industrial partners Letter from Technology Transfer Office (TTO) or equivalent, confirming that they will ensure a collaboration agreement is signed within three months of BBSRC making an award and before work starts (whichever is the sooner)* * For applications submitted after 26 th September 2012 the TTO letter must outline the proposed IP management and distribution strategy under a heads of terms and should be signed by all industrial partners prior to submission to BBSRC. 14 Stand-alone LINK What is stand-alone LINK? A collaborative, pre-competitive research project between one or more companies and one or more research-base partners.
