1 Foundation and Partnerships Manager National Library, Information & Knowledge Services The Foundation and Partnerships Manager (the Manager) leads the development of sponsorship and trust funding for the National Library of New Zealand and Te Puna Foundation. The Manager is responsible for the creation and management of strategic partnerships; this includes partnerships that create significant cash, value in-kind to support strategic directions; philanthropic fundraising and additional partner services related to business requirements. The purpose of Te Puna Foundation is to supplement core funding for the National Library, helping it to do more for the people of New Zealand. 3 What you will do to contribute Strategic leadership Design a fundraising strategy for Te Puna Foundation in association with the Director Public Engagement and Trustees, to generate growth in philanthropic engagement aligned with the National Library strategy Support the Director Public Engagement and Trustees, in providing strategic leadership to design a corporate partnership / sponsorship strategy for the National Library aligned with the National Library Strategic Direction Provide strategic and intellectual leadership and direction to the Te Puna Foundation and the National Library that aligns fundraising activity with the activities of the National Library, setting and monitoring targets to substantially grow revenue Lead the production of the Annual Report for Te Puna Foundation including liaison with Finance. Prepare papers for Te Puna Foundation Board Implement effective processes for the smooth operation of the Foundation including how it receives and distributes funding. As a result, we will see Implementation of a short, medium and long-term fundraising and partnership strategy for the Foundation and the National Library that meets fundraising and ROI targets and enhances the reputation of the National Library and the Foundation Joined up and collaborative approach to fundraising and partnerships across the National Library and the Foundation Attraction and retention of partnerships that bring value to the National Library measured by the number, value and quality of engagement Planning for fundraising functions and develop opportunities to meet future targets, commensurate with funds raised Coordination of activities with other revenue generating work within the National Library Annual Reports that meet the statutory obligations of the Foundation and tell a compelling story to attract funding. 4 What you will do to contribute Partnerships Engagement and Management Develop and maintain productive relationships with partners and stakeholders, ensuring sound communication and shared understanding of requirements Consult regularly, requesting partner feedback regarding Te Puna Foundation s performance Working with third party funding partners from the commercial and sector environment to ensure that: 1. Risks, issues and actions are identified early and followed through 2. Strategies are developed and aligned / realigned to ensure partner needs and key deliverables are met 3. Appropriate ownership is assigned with NLLT or wider IKS areas 4. Driving and co-ordinating engagement with third party funding partners Fundraising and revenue Identify and secure major gift opportunities aligned with the Foundation strategy Design and implement fundraising campaigns Identify and secure corporate sponsorship opportunities aligned with the National Library Strategic Direction Identify alternative revenue sources and support their implementation Design of programmes, activities and events aligned with the Foundation strategy delivered in partnership across the National Library Lead and coordination of grants Lead fundraising activity associated with the National Library s conference center to meet revenue targets As a result, we will see Effective, valuable and up-todate CRM system Programme of donor activities and events Excellent stakeholder management including with major corporates Timely launch and promotion of fundraising campaigns with specific objectives, aligned with the Foundation strategy Alignment to the National Library Strategic direction An appealing suite of fundraising products on offer A growing number of revenue streams Responsibility for revenue goals Page 4 of 8

5 What you will do to contribute Profile Building Protect and nurture key partnerships / relationships for the Foundation and the National Library Help build the profile of the Foundation and the National Library to support our fundraising activities, in coordination with marketing and communications Daily operations Manage relationships between Te Puna Foundation, National Library of New Zealand and partners, sponsors and donors Manage budget including financial planning and reporting Analyse trends from donor data to inform fundraising and partnerships strategy Attend monthly meetings of Trustees and prepare reports as required Lead annual reporting for the Foundation Advise Foundation Director and Trustees on risk management including the legal, financial and fiduciary responsibilities of the Foundation as a separate legal entity in accordance with the Charities Act; and liaise with DIA Finance and Legal Services as required Execution of Fundraising and Partnerships work plan Marketing Develop a fundraising marketing campaign plan to support the fundraising activities of Te Puna Foundation and the National Library with the Director of Public Engagement Develop and execute campaign marketing strategies to achieve targets in collaboration with DIA marketing and communication teams Coordinate marketing and communication resources As a result, we will see Timely and responsive communications Events, activities and programmes that positively profile the work of the National Library Effective management of all aspects of fundraising and partnership relationships with Te Puna Foundation and National Library of New Zealand Efficient management of Foundation finances and reporting Compliance with legal requirements in relation to donations, bequests and managing a Foundation Smooth running of high quality programmes and events that achieve or exceed fundraising and partnerships targets A fundraising marketing campaign plan that outlines the approach and activities that will enable the National Library and Te Puna Foundation to achieve their fundraising targets Increased positive profile of the National Library and Te Puna Foundation Page 5 of 8

6 What you will do to contribute Stakeholder engagement and donor management Review and implement the stakeholder engagement plan including a supporter model for the Foundation Review and implement a donor management system and donor stewardship programme for the Foundation Develop and implement a stakeholder / partnership plan for the National Library Foster and develop strong, positive, professional and responsive relationships with donors, stakeholders, corporate sponsors and Trustees Establish and oversee all channels of communication to Foundation supporters and potential supporters Keep informed about current and emerging trends and opportunities across government, philanthropy, libraries and the cultural sector As a result, we will see Implementation of an efficient donor management system including protocols for acknowledgement and receipt of gifts Effective stakeholder engagement and a growing body of Foundation supporters Regular newsletter/ communication to Foundation supporters Internal communications plan that lifts the profile and understanding of the fundraising partnership activities and how it intersects and benefits the work of the National Library Recognition of donors and contributors is actioned in a timely fashion Health and safety (for self) Work safely and take responsibility for keeping self and colleagues free from harm Report all incidents and hazards promptly Know what to do in the event of an emergency Cooperate in implementing return to work plans Health and safety (for team) Inform, train and equip staff to carry out their work safely Ensure prompt and accurate reporting and investigation of all workplace incidents and injuries Assess all hazards promptly and ensure they are managed A safe and healthy workplace for all people using our sites as a place of work.
