In addition I mentioned we had 11 EREY clubs however I did not list them by name as The Rotary Foundation had not confirmed the clubs total giving. Those clubs who achieved EREY status, clubs where every member contributed to the Rotary Foundation and the clubs total equaled a minimum of $100 per capita. Clubs where every member contributed a minimum of $100 to The Rotary Foundation. Neuse Sunrise Vanceboro A special thank you to these clubs and also to our top giving and top per capita giving clubs for an outstanding year.

2 I would like to thank just a few of the many Rotarian s who were such a tremendous help in us exceeding this year s Foundation goals. Including Brenda Shaw, Lee Adams, Frank Belote, Skip Morgan, all of the AG s and a special thank you to Joe and Joan Malone for their generous contribution of matching points and Joan for her encouragement and assistance. Excerpt from The Rotary Global Fellowship Newsletter What ever Rotary may mean to us to the world it will be known by the results we achieve. Think about that sentence and all of the wonderful projects you and your clubs are involved in then multiply that by the other 1.2 million Rotarians around the world. I know you are proud, as I am to be among such an outstanding group of men and women. Rotary set out by doing good in the world. This vision became the Rotary Foundation You are The Rotary Foundation without your time, talent and financial support what would we be today? Would Rotary even exist? You have shared our vision and because of you We are working toward peace and conflict resolution throughout the world. It may be working in a community to end conflict brought about due to the poor economy or difference in religion over clean water and the list goes on. How do you plan to celebrate Peace Day? Millions of individuals and organizations will mark the International Day of Peace on 21 September by creating practical acts of peace, advocating for peace, and building public awareness. You have made it possible to provide netting to reduce the number of Malaria cases. You have sent doctors to areas where there is little or no medical treatment, you have participated in an international grant with Mercy Ships and yes we are this close to eliminating Polio throughout the world. You have provided water and sanitation facilities where there were none. You have worked with populations where the death rate among new born babies was astronomical and you have educated mother on the importance of pre natal care. You have made it possible for children who had little hope of any education to go to school. You have provided books to children who have never owned a book of there on. You have shown individuals how to enter the work force and provided them with the resources to become self sustaining and to provide jobs to members in the community. BECAUSE OF EACH OF YOU THAT VISION HAS BECOME A REALITY. Because of you I know that will be another record year in giving to Your Rotary Foundation as WE LIGHT UP ROTARY!

Register with Mary Vincent, District Trainer, at SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 2014 PCC CONTINUING EDUCATION CENTER 3107 S. MEMORIAL DRIVE, GREENVILLE, NC Register on DaCdb or contact Mary Vincent, District Trainer at or Home Cell. RLI is found under programs (general) on the District Website. Please take time to read about the content of the three different courses. You will take one of 3 courses that day and they must be taken in sequence. Clubs generally pay the fee for the attending Rotarians and they take their new Rotary Leadership skills back to share with the club. Checks should be made payable to Rotary Leadership Institute and mailed to Mary Vincent, 315 Bethana Ct., Winterville, N.C no later than September 15 th. PDG Greg Browning will be our host and Suzanne Grey, District Secretary, and Mary Vincent, District Trainer, will be coordinating the event. We had a record number of participants last year and we hope to surpass that record this year. WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2014 SENATOR BOB MARTIN AG BUILDING 2900 NC HIGHWAY 125 SOUTH OR 2900 PRISON CAMP ROAD WILLIAMSTON, NORTH CAROLINA Wednesday November 5 is the date set for this year s Grants Management and Foundation Seminar. Because of the positive response from last year we again are combining these two meeting into one. In order to qualify for a District or Global Grant the club must be represented at both of these meetings and the clubs president elect and vice president must sign The Memorandum of Understanding and the District Addendum to the Memorandum of Understanding. We encourage all club members to attend and especially the president elect, vice president and Foundation Chair. Based on the comments concerning last year s meeting we will be placing more emphasis on Global Grants the six areas of focus and the application process. I am pleased to let you know that PDG Charles Allen District 7600 and ARRFC will be heading up this year Grants Management Seminar with the assistance of our Grants Committee consisting of Frank Belote, PDG Bob Manning and Chad Hinton. District 7600 was one of our pilot districts so Charles is very knowledgeable on the new grants model and I am sure will be a tremendous help.

Are you joining up with other clubs in your Area to make a joint effort? With hole and overall sponsorships over $9,000 was raised to fight polio last year. Here is last year s flyer cover If you have a stand-alone event for Polio Plus your club can provide a focused educational experience for your community by having Polio Plus flyers and literature available to your participants. If you are using monies from another fundraiser, such as a golf outing, to support your club s Polio Plus contribution please make sure to get educational material to your participants. If the price shown is $.01 it is free, the 1-cent amount is in there for computer purposes, as it will not compute a zero until you go to the checkout site. I am looking forward to hearing from your club on what is planned for this year s Polio Plus Fundraising share your ideas with me so I can share with everyone in the District! TO PROTECT PROGRESS, WHO DECLARES SPREAD OF POLIO AS PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY! Rotary supports the WHO Director-General s recommendations that describe polio as a public health emergency of international concern. Here are the polio case numbers as of the most current report, July 16: OFFICIALLY REPORTED WILD VIRUS CASES ON July 16, 2014 for 2014 in Endemic Countries: 107 (Compared with 59 in 2013) Afghanistan: 8 cases in 2014 (compared with 3 for the same period in 2013) Nigeria: 5 cases in 2014 (compared with 35 for the same period in 2013) Pakistan: 94 cases in 2014 (compared with 21 for the same period in 2013) OFFICIALLY REPORTED WILD VIRUS CASES ON July 16, 2014 for 2014 in Importation Countries 16 (Compared with 73 in 2013) More detailed information can be found at the web site: EndPolioNow.org All District 7720 Rotary Clubs, expect one, have set a Polio Plus goal for this Rotary year. This is great news and I thank all of you who have made the effort to set a goal and load it onto the RI web site. Again this month I am offering my assistance in finding programs for your club. 5 Foundation Annual Giving Starts the Year Right By Annual Giving Chair Jim Findley Last year brought about a lot of changes in how The Rotary Foundation funded both Global and District Grants. Traditionally when we talked about International service projects we automatically thought it meant supporting a humanitarian project in a country outside of the United States. However as we have learned this year we can become a host partner of a Global Grant meaning the funds come back to our communities. Learn how your club can take advantage of these opportunities and become a host partner of a GG. Attend the Foundation Seminar Wednesday November 5, 2014 in Williamston. There will be a lot of information on the application process and why it is so important to increase your club members giving to the Annual Fund 1. 6 GIVING UPDATES A Record-Setting Year Owing to the leadership and financial support of Rotarians around the world, was a record-setting year for our Annual Fund. Preliminary results suggest that more than $250 million was contributed to help change lives locally and in communities around the world. Congratulations to each of you for setting the record in per capita giving for the Rotary year in District I know we will do even better in as WE Light Up Rotary. Thank you! Packaged Grants to be Phased Out Despite some successes with packaged grants, an evaluation revealed significant differences between the grants goals and the actual experience of Rotarians. Therefore, the Trustees decided to allow options with the Foundation s strategic partners to expire at the end of their current terms. Packaged grants will end when all active grants are closed. Grant terms and conditions updated Grant terms and conditions are periodically updated for the sake of clarity and to incorporate policy changes. Most recently, the eligibility guidelines for district grants were expanded. District grants can now fund youth programs (including Youth Exchange, RYLA, Rotaract, and Interact), construction (including low-cost shelters), travel for staff of cooperating organizations, scholar orientation seminars, grant management seminars, and activities primarily implemented by an organization other than Rotary. See the current version of grant terms and conditions, which includes these changes. Year-end grant statistics Rotarians worldwide enthusiastically participated in the new grants during The Foundation approved 492 district grants, 858 global grants, and 18 packaged grants.

7 0% Interest for YEARS! That s Right! No Interest, not for months, but for YEARS! I ve always heard and I have usually found this to be true that if it s too good to be true, then it probably is. However, this may be the exception. Of course, I am speaking about becoming a Rotary Benefactor, and there is absolutely no interest involved, but it does make a catchy headline. But think about it. If you pledge $1,000 from your estate, then you are recognized now as a Benefactor and the $1,000 doesn t get paid from your estate to the Foundation until you move on to your great reward, and hopefully that will be many years from now. By becoming a Benefactor you can proudly wear the Benefactor s pen, which says in a quiet but powerful way, I believe in the Rotary Foundation and the good work that the Foundation does throughout the world and I am proud to be a part of that work. To become a Benefactor all you do is bequest in your will that $1,000 be given to The Rotary Foundation of Chicago, IL; or if you all ready have a will, then a simple codicil with the same language will work. This year as your Endowment Fund Chairman my goal is to increase giving to the Endowment Fund by speaking to Clubs in District 7720 not only about becoming a Benefactor but also about joining the Bequest Society or becoming a Major Donor to the Foundation.
