3 PAYMENT AND DEADLINES Table spaces are reserved only after the application is reviewed and accepted and payment in full is received and deposited. Applications received after the deadline may be accepted, but will not be included in the convention program. We are using an online application for Young Entrepreneurs. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, you will be provided with payment instructions. Your payment reserves your spot in the exhibit hall. Payment can be made by check and mailed in or with a credit card through an online payment link we will provide. Register early. Space is limited. APPLICATION DEADLINE: PAYMENT DEADLINE: April 12, 2017 to be included in the program May 5, 2017 to be included in the program CANCELLATION NOTICE Fees are 50% refundable if you cancel on or before May 5, No refunds after May 5, 2017 BOOTH CONTENTS Each full booth has 3 high draped side rails and an 8 high draped backdrop. Each FULL BOOTH includes the following: One 8 x 24 skirted table Two folding chairs One wastebasket Each HALF BOOTH includes the following: One 4 x 24 skirted table One folding chair One wastebasket ADDITIONAL SERVICES: Signage, electricity, phone, Internet, carpeting, additional tables/chairs, and other extra services must be ordered separately for an additional fee. See providers on page 7.

4 PARTICIPATION / ELIGIBILITY Students who are currently being taught at home by their parents in accordance with Arizona Revised Statutes * are invited to participate in the AFHE Young Entrepreneurs program. Students must be a minimum age of 12 by July 7, Homeschool graduates who are age 23 or younger are also invited participate. *ARS defines a homeschool as "a nonpublic school conducted primarily by the parent, guardian, or other person who has custody of the child or nonpublic instruction provided in the child's home." Students enrolled in a public school, private school, charter school, or virtual charter school are ineligible to participate as Young Entrepreneurs at the AFHE Convention. As a test this year, AFHE will permit an ESA Contract Student (a student who has an Empowerment Scholarship Account contract with the State) to participate as long as they identify themselves as an ESA contract student in the application and if space is available. ESA contract students enrolled in a private school are not eligible to participate. Young Entrepreneur businesses must be owned, managed, and operated by homeschool students only. Businesses owned and operated or directed by parents with assistance from students are not eligible. There are a limited number of YE booths available and each entrepreneur is limited to one full booth or one half booth. Until you receive confirmation of approval and submit your payment, your booth is not guaranteed. Payment is due no later than May 5 to be included in the convention program. If space is still available, additional applications will be accepted after April 12, but will not be listed in the convention program due to the publishing/printing schedule. All Young Entrepreneur booths must be open and manned during the entire time the exhibit hall is open. Early tear down/departure is not permitted. EXHIBITOR GUIDELINES AND INSTRUCTIONS Young Entrepreneurs must follow all guidelines and instructions provided to all exhibitors at the AFHE Convention. An will be sent to exhibitors and Young Entrepreneurs prior to the convention with final instructions and information. NUMBER OF BOOTH REPRESENTATIVES You will be given one non-transferable name badge with your booth rental. You may purchase additional name badges for siblings or friends who will be assisting you with running your booth for $10 each. If they wish to participate in the Teen Program, they must register through the regular convention registration and pay the $20 Teen Program admission rate. Adults must register through normal AFHE convention registration procedures. Free admission to the convention is not included for parents or siblings of Young Entrepreneurs. 5 EXHIBIT HALL CUSTOMERS Please be aware and advise your customers that they must pay the convention admission fee in order to enter the Exhibit Hall. An exhibit-hall-only pass will be available for $25 per adult and $10 per youth from 12:00-5:00 PM Saturday only for those who wish to shop in the exhibit hall and not attend the rest of the convention. DISTRIBUTION OF FLIERS PROHIBITED Young Entrepreneurs may only distribute fliers, brochures, business cards, catalogs, etc. from within the boundaries of their booth space. It is prohibited for any exhibitors including Young Entrepreneurs to have a representative walking around distributing printed materials or advertising their business to convention attendees. No printed materials from your business may be placed in any public area (including walls, restrooms, tables, etc.). SUBLETTING OR SHARING OF BOOTH SPACE PROHIBITED Young Entrepreneurs may not sublet their booth space to or share their booth space with other companies or businesses. FOOD DISTRIBUTION SOUND The sale or distribution of food is restricted by the Phoenix Convention Center. For example, if you wanted to give away or sell popcorn from your booth, you could bring your own popcorn machine, but you would need to purchase the popcorn and oil from Aventura, the exclusive caterer and food service provider for the Phoenix Convention Center. Please see the Exhibit Hall Coordinators for additional information. All audios played or noise in or around your booth must be low enough so as not to disrupt neighboring exhibitors. HELIUM BALLOONS PROHIBITED The Phoenix Convention Center does not permit helium balloons in the building. ALL BOOTH CONTENTS MUST BE LOCATED WITHIN YOUR BOOTH SPACE Please make sure that all contents of your booth including tables, signs, book/product displays, chairs, etc. are located within the chalk lines for your booth space. The Fire Marshal requires that nothing may extend out past the chalk lines on the floor. No signage or displays may be taped/mounted to the support columns or other surfaces in the exhibit hall or anywhere in the Convention Center.

6 EMPTY BOXES NOT PERMITTED IN BOOTHS The Fire Marshal requires that all empty boxes, pallets, packing materials, etc. must be removed from all booth spaces prior to the start of the show. He will not allow us to open the exhibit hall until these materials are removed. Please make sure all empty boxes, etc. are removed from your booth no later than 9:00 AM Friday morning when the Fire Marshal begins his inspection. You may store your empty boxes in your vehicle or CSI, ETC. (the decorator) will provide storage in their trailer for a fee. All extra product/merchandise must be stored under tables or in your vehicle. Extra product/merchandise may not be stacked out in the open. CLOTH DECORATIONS MUST HAVE A MANUFACTURER S LABEL INDICATING IT IS FIRE RESISTANT OR FABRIC MUST BE TREATED WITH FIRE RETARDANT If you use any cloth/fabric within your booth space for decorations or table coverings, it must have a manufacturer s tag that indicates it is fire resistant or you must demonstrate to the Fire Marshal that you have treated it by having a non-aerosol bottle of fire retardant handy at your booth. This product can be purchased through Amazon.com in advance. AFHE will have a bottle on hand for use if needed, but we encourage you to purchase and bring your own if you have untreated fabric decorations. The Fire Marshal is a stickler about this. Burlap is a particular issue. He may do a fire test on a portion of fabric and ask you to remove any questionable fabric. It is recommended you treat the fabric before coming to the convention. This is not generally required for purchased table cloths that have a manufacturer s tag. BUSINESS EXAMPLES (Fictitious examples based on real student businesses.) Example1: Boats by Ben is a company begun by a 12-year-old homeschool student. Ben uses his own funds to purchase materials to build his own model boats. He designs, chisels, sands, and paints his models to sell online and at community flea markets. Ben s parents assist him with safety and drive him to purchase supplies and to flea markets. Ben pays his siblings a salary to work for him. They help with sanding and painting. They also work at his tables at the flea markets. Example 2: Jewelry by Jewel is a company started by a 14-year-old homeschool student. Jewel purchases stones for her jewelry online and through trade shows. She creates her own original designs and sells them online and at craft fairs. Jewel s parents have helped her establish her own business bank account. She markets her products online at her website. Jewel keeps careful accounting details to insure she is making a suitable profit margin. She includes material costs, travel expenses, employee wages, and other expenses. Example 3: Brittany started her own pet care business. Brittany provides the following services for a reasonable fee: dog walking and training, pet sitting while owners are on vacation, and grooming. Brittany advertises by flyer and word-of-mouth referrals. Brittany purchases her own pet supplies and donates part of her profits to a local shelter. Even though Brittany has only a handful of clients so far, she is working on expanding. She has employed her best friend to assist her when she needs additional help.

7 AMENITIES NOT INCLUDED WITH BOOTH RENTAL You will have the opportunity to order, at your own expense, additional services such as electricity, Internet, carpeting, additional tables/chairs, and other extra services. You may bring your own extra tables or chairs from home if you like. Once you have been assigned your booth number by the AFHE Young Entrepreneur Coordinator, you can contact these service providers directly to order the services you need. You will need your booth number to place an order for additional services. CSI, ETC.
