6 Desert Tanks, LLC is a producer of frack and storage tanks for the oilfield industry. Located in the industrial park, Desert Tanks produces 7 different types of custom storage tanks and provides them to oilfield locations within a 100 mile radius. In response to the increased demand, Desert Tanks recently requested assistance from the Big Spring Economic Development Corporation in order to expand their facilities. The expansion has allowed them to increase the production of one type of storage tank in the new facility from 4 tanks a week to 20 tanks. Desert Tanks LLC approached the Big Spring EDC with a request to enter into an agreement for the amount of $800,000 to be used towards the purchase of new equipment and be paid back over a ten year period. As part of the agreement, Desert Tanks requirement was to retain the existing 17 jobs and create an additional 26 jobs. To date they have exceeded the 26 new jobs and have now added over 80 new positions. Another positive is that for every 10 jobs they create within, they are creating another three indirect jobs in the community. In addition to the Big Spring EDC incentive agreement investment, overall capital investment has exceeded more than $2 million. One of the things that the company is most proud of is the diversity of their workforce. These are skilled jobs and most of the people that are employed are from Big Spring and Howard County.

7 CeRam-Kote Coatings, Inc. is a manufacturer of high performance industrial resin coating products used anywhere from the U.S. Military to the oilfield to amusement parks. Since 1985, CeRam-Kote has been a local company which is located in the industrial park. CeRam- Kote produces an industrial type coating which combats corrosion and acts as a chemical protectant. The coating is used locally throughout the Permian Basin as well as nationally and internationally. CeRam-Kote received assistance from the Big Spring EDC to expand their current operation. Big Spring EDC entered an agreement with CeRam-Kote for $350,000 to be used to construct a new building, which would allow the company to double production in order to meet increased client demand. Not only did the company expand their business, but they are creating more jobs and adding facilities to the industrial park. As a result of the agreement, CeRam-Kote has added an additional 21 jobs. Since the assistance from Big Spring EDC, employment has increased from 19 employees to 40 with more jobs expected to be added as well. The total capital investment of the project is estimated at $1.1 million, with the company having an investment of $750,000 in addition to the Big Spring EDC agreement. With the expansion of the new facility and machinery CeRam-Kote has been able to meet the increased demand for their products.

8 John Crane Production Solutions is a oil related company that offers a full compliment of Fiberod sucker rods for extreme heavy load applications, severe corrosion environments, and applications where more production is desired without having to upgrade current surface equipment. Fiberod sucker rods also reduce workover costs and failures due to less stress on equipment. With the help of Big Spring EDC, John Crane was able to construct a new warehousing area allowing the doubling of the production area to their existing facility and install energy efficiency lighting. The new construction expanded the building by 18,000 square feet. The Big Spring EDC approved a $600, agreement for the construction at the John Crane facility, which provided about one-third of the cost. Overall capital investment for the project was $1.9 million, with the company contributing a little more than $1.3 million in equipment and improvements. Through the expansion, production at the Big Spring facility has doubled and an additional 23 personnel positions have been created. John Crane products are primarily used and distributed in the Permian Basin and southeast New Mexico, but products are also delivered across North America as well as Europe and the Middle East. Company wide there are 500 employees with the Big Spring location accounting for 89 of those positions.

9 Boyce Galvanizing is a full service Hot Dip Galvanizing service, providing corrosion protection for steel fabricators and manufacturers. The Big Spring EDC approved a $450,000 agreement for the opening of the galvanizing facility, which provided about one-third of the cost. Overall capital investment for the project is $5 million, with the company personnel projections of $1.5 million annual payroll with employees. Transport Handling Specialist assists railroads and users of railroads in solving transportation issues that range from the storage of products and fleets to the trans-loading of commodities. With the assistance of Big Spring EDC, it is the desire of THS to enhance the competitiveness of industrial activity in Big Spring and to development the industrial property. The Big Spring EDC approved a request for reimbursement for up to $150,000 for rail upgrades and capital improvements to the rail as well as an agreement for rent reimbursement for up to $ per month for 2 years. THS has employed 5 permanent positions to operate the short line.

10 Big Spring Economic Development Corporation Big Spring EDC has been publicized in many magazines that are not only distributed Nationwide but worldwide as well. Images Business Xpansion Expansion Solutions Trade & Industry Certified Retirement Community Big Spring became a Texas Certified Retirement Community in 2009 and Big Spring EDC has been instrumental in marketing the community as a retirement destination. Big Spring marketing initiatives include materials distributed at the State Fair, AARP Annual Conventions and joining with the Convention and Visitors Bureau in advertising in numerous publications along with an nationally distributed television ad produced by The State of Texas as a great place to retire Texas Highways Travel Host

11 Multimedia The Big Spring EDC website is very user friendly and informational. Since the launch of the website many inquiries have been requested. During the year from September 2011 to September 2012, the website has had 12,645 visits with 85.36% of those hits being new visits. It is very important in this day and time to keep up with our ever changing communication technology. With this new site Big Spring Economic Development has accomplished just that. Multimedia The Big Spring EDC has broadened our Social Network to include Facebook. As well as acquiring a QR (quick response) Code.

12 TexasSitesSearch.com debuted as a catalyst for economic development and location selection in the State of Texas in December Big Spring EDC was one of the first communities to utilize this new site selection tool in Texas. Big Spring Economic Development is excited to be part of the Ports-to-Plains Alliance. Thanks to that network, and its geographic alignment between the Texas and western Canada s oil patch, the Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor is increasingly recognized as an important economic development resource for business leaders throughout North America s energy and agricultural heartland.
