1 2012 Annual Report Ben B. Cheney Foundation Ruston Way, Ste A -..

2 Executive Director s Report Annual reports are a time of looking back and looking ahead. At the end of 2012 the Foundation had concluded thirtyeight years of active grant making. In that time the Foundation has awarded $83.7 million in grants in the form of 4600 grants to 1264 organizations. Those awards helped many communities, yet reinforced our priority of serving those communities where the Cheney Lumber Company operated. Over the past year the Foundation increased its focus on those areas that have been the core of our geographic priority. This shift is the result of seeing an increasing number of requests from all communities, but in particular, those communities where the Foundation has its roots. One result of this shift is that the Foundation will revise its website in The Foundation s website has served us well since 2003 when it was launched. The Foundation continues to receive compliments on its web presence. Yet, we have also learned much about who visits our site, where they come from, and what they are looking for. This information allows us to present information about the Foundation in a format that both responds to our visitors needs and more clearly communicates the Foundation s values and grant process. We plan for the site to go live in mid-year. Sincerely, Brad Cheney Executive Director 2012 Grants Charity Habitat for Humanity Assist the development of The Woods at Golden Given.
