1 ! ROTARY CLUB OF MISSION A.M. Sponsorship & Granting Guide The Rotary Club of Mission A.M. supports groups and organizations that are making a difference in our community. Our Club actively participates in charitable and non-profit endeavours. By definition, the Rotary Club is a strong community supporter. Since the Mission Rotary A.M. Club was chartered on December 28, 1945, we have been committed to building relationships and providing financial support to the people and organizations enhancing the quality of life in our communities. We have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars in the community for over half a century. In addition to monetary support, our members devote countless hours within the neighbourhoods in which they work and live. On the global stage, Rotary International is made up of over 1.2 million Rotarians who make up the more than 34,000 clubs in nearly every country in the world. As a Mission Rotary Club, we also support international projects such as building schools, literacy and the eradication of Polio to name a few. Each year we provide bursaries and scholarships to secondary school graduates in our community as well as study exchanges abroad. The following describes the criteria on which each request is evaluated by Rotary, with few exceptions. Only those requests that meet these criteria will be granted funding. What does our Rotary Club Support? All Rotary clubs support Rotary International s 5 Avenues of Service and these include: Community Service, International Service, Vocational Service (promoting dealings in one s profession), Club Service, and New Generations (promoting the development of leadership in our youth). 2 Further to the avenues of service, Rotary International has the following 6 areas of focus: Peace and conflict prevention/resolution Disease prevention and treatment and the eradication of Polio Water and sanitation Maternal and child health Basic education and literacy Economic and community development CRITERIA FOR FUNDING Consideration will be given normally to those applications that meet the following criteria: Community-based non-profit, volunteer, public service or charitable organizations Community-based non-profit arts, cultural, educational, recreational or social service organizations Consideration cannot be given to those applications: ASSESSMENT When the primary purpose of the sponsorship is to promote specific religious, social, political or economic views. Organizations and events are based in Mission or have a connection to an international service project (such as a clean water project or literacy program) Highest consideration will be given to those applicants that fall within Rotary s 5 avenues of service and or 6 areas of focus Funding requests that benefit the greatest number of people, for the longest period of time, will also be given the greatest consideration. Rotary supports endeavours that benefit the community As Rotary strives to increase the good work it does in the community and grow its organization, we also look to share in project recognition and promotion. 3 Inclusion of Rotary logos and other promotional considerations are considered a benefit to applicants. DECISION All Applicants will be notified in writing of Rotary s decision. We follow a quarterly review process (January, July and October). Requests are to be submitted via to (insert address here) via the attached form; or mailed to (Insert mailing address here). For urgent requests that may not fall under quarterly consideration, please contact our President Louise Lacerte at lacertela@shaw.ca TERMS AND CONDITIONS Recognition of sponsorship may include the use of Rotary s logo. When using this logo, please request a copy of our logo from the club s President. The date requested for sponsorship payment should be included in the application for sponsorship. The project plan should include a presentation to the Rotary A.M. Club about the outcome of the project, etc. Note: If your project is accepted, you will be required to submit a review of the project upon its completion. This review/summary shall include any samples of advertising, articles, promotional materials, details of publicity and promotion received and your impressions, etc. Rotary Club of Mission A.M. SPONSORSHIP APPLICATION FORM (Continued) Description of Project (Give a brief outline of project and scope) (Example Only) Teen Mentoring Program: We were all young once and we all know that some kids adjust to adolescence easier than others. Our mentoring program helps elementary and middle school age children that might not have the support system at home to turn to when things get hard for them. Without a network of support, many of these children develop under-achieving behaviours and some of them follow paths of self-destruction that can include drugs, alcohol and criminal activity. More description of the program goes here Project time frame/duration (give dates if appropriate): September to June (academic school year) Challenges and Successes (We have been doing this program for years and have had great success with the program. Often mentors move on to become in-school or community based mentors because they enjoyed themselves so much and it changes the lives of the mentor. The schools have been great to work with and have been very supportive of our program and helpful with recognizing a student who would benefit from the program etc.. The only real challenge we have had was we need more resources to expand the services because it has been such an overwhelming success etc ) Rotary Club of Mission A.M. Page! 5
