2 Get involved. Membership in the Tulsa Metro Chamber represents an investment in your business and your community. Utilize your Chamber membership through volunteering for a committee or task force. Your input and participation is vital to the success of the Chamber s program of work and there are many opportunities to get involved and plugged-in to some of the largest issues effecting the region s business climate and quality of life. *Please complete the form and check the box of the task force, committee and group. 3 Business Retention & Expansion - volunteers attend site visits with Chamber staff at Tulsa area businesses to determine what services, resources or support from the Chamber or other resource partners may benefit them. Opportunity to share and network for your business as well as provide support to existing businesses in Tulsa area. Hospitality Club if you enjoy building relationships, consider representing the Chamber at member special events such as grand openings, ribbon cuttings, open houses and assist at Chamber networking events. Great opportunity to meet new members and welcome businesses to the Chamber. Capacity is limited and volunteers are recognized in Chamber communications based on attendance. Oklahoma Scholars Presenters supports the program to encourage students to enroll in a more rigorous high school course of study, recruits volunteers to make presentations to 8th 12th graders, and helps secure incentives to reward participating students and plans the culminating events for graduating seniors. legislative agenda reflecting a unified commitment to improve and develop economic stability for northeast Oklahoma. Once the One Voice priorities have been established, the Chamber will strongly advocate these positions at the local, state and federal levels. Task force choices are: q Business Expansion and Attraction q Development q Education q Energy q Federal Issues q Health Care q Labor and Human Resources q Regional Tourism q Small Business q Transportation *Topics do change from year to year reflecting issues Contributing writers provide articles based on assignments by the Chamber s communications team. CVB Advisory Board chaired by Vice Chairman of the Board for Convention and Visitors Bureau. Volunteers develop policies, strategy and provides oversight to CVB programming for sales and marketing. Capacity is limited and by invitation only. Destination: Downtown Task Force working in conjunction with the Mayor s office, and other public and private interests, this task force will explore innovative ways to enhance, develop and promote Downtown Tulsa as a destination point and growing business, residential and entertainment center. Let s Do Business Committee volunteers work to recruit local companies to be part of the business-to-business buy local campaign known as Let s Do Business and encourage them to use local vendors to bring business back to the Tulsa region. Local Hero Task Force recognizes local involvement in attracting meetings, conventions, and events to Tulsa. Works with sales staff, facility and hotel representatives to identify, nominate and recognize these important partners. Will organize recognition luncheon in cooperation with Tulsa Hotel and Lodging Association. Partners In Education partner your business or organization with a Tulsa Public School location. Formally known as Adopt-A-School, businesses provide resources to help make the school a success such as volunteering, materials, or items to reward students or teachers. Partners In Education Steering Committee helps to expand partnerships that connect the business community and civic groups with individual school sites in the Tulsa Public School district. Regional Legislative Advocacy Taskforces influence the Chamber s regional legislative agenda through taskforces held from June-August annually to create the regional One Voice Resource Campaign provides 22 percent of the Chamber s annual operating budget. Volunteers generate revenue for programs, events, publications and memberships during a 10- week campaign. Great opportunity to meet business leaders throughout the region, earn commissions and a coveted trip with community leaders.

4 Small Business Awards Committee join other volunteers as part of a talent search team to identify small businesses to honor at an annual awards celebration. Small Business Council serving as the voice of small business, the council is comprised of business owners who serve as mentors to early-stage businesses and develop programs of value to the business community. This group also provides input to the Board of Directors regarding issues pertaining to small businesses. Restricted to business owners. Small Business Forum Planning Group plans and assists in monthly interactive meeting exclusively for business owners to discuss topics and review issues specific to the challenges of business ownership. Team Tulsa Volunteers encourages all businesses with interest in hospitality industry to join us in marketing Tulsa, development overviews, and joint marketing opportunities. Meets every other month in various locations around Tulsa. Opportunity to share and network for business as well as interact with sales staff. Tulsa Ambassadors a volunteer group to assist with way finding, directions, general good will and information sharing with visitors, convention delegates, business users in the downtown area, at our public facilities like the BOK Center, Tulsa Convention Center and PAC during major events and Expo Square. Tulsa Sports Commission Events Direct event volunteer roles involving staffing for crowd control, ushering, security, hospitality room set up, clean up and hosting, courtesy car transport, ticket sales, participant support services (housing, information, ambassador). Choices include: q C-USA Men s and Women s Basketball Championships (Mar. 10) q ABA Grand Nationals / BMX (annually in November) q Tulsa Tough Ride & Race (annually in May/June q NCAA Men s 1st & 2nd Round Div. I Basketball Championships (March 2011) Tulsa Sports Commission Committees assists with the execution of the following fund raisers and events which support and fund the mission of the Tulsa Sports Commission. Committees meet as needed and are chaired by a TSC advisory council member: q Bill Connors Sports Dinner q Golf Tournament Tulsa s Young Professionals More than 6,000 members of Tulsa s Young Professionals (TYPros) fill up the rosters of Work Crews (committees). AC members attend quarterly meetings, provide feedback and assistance as needed to accomplish the mission of TYPros. Capacity is limited and by invitation only. Workforce Attraction Task Force facing a workforce shortage industry-wide, the Chamber s efforts to create new jobs is equal to recruiting a qualified workforce. This task force develops innovative strategies to externally market the Tulsa region s diverse industries and employers. Human resource and recruiting professionals with marketing knowledge are sought for this task force.
