1 Scholarship Application Due Date is: June 25th The Wilson Family Executive Committee governs the requirements that must be met for our youth to receive a scholarship award. In order to be considered for this scholarship, all of the requirements set forth by the committee must be satisfied. A prospective youth should consult with his or her parents to ensure that all of the requirements have been met. The Wilson Family Scholarship Award is reserved for the descendants of Henry and Lucy Wilson attending an institution of higher learning as a freshman. Scholarship Awards are funded through the

2 generous donations of the Wilson family. The award amount is contingent upon the financial resources available. SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA Scholarships shall be awarded to students meeting the following criteria: 1. Must be a member of the Wilson family. Applicant must be a descendant (through birth, adoption, or connected through marriage) of Henry & Lucy Marrow Wilson. Proof of family connection and heritage must be provided and verifiable (see the application). The committee reserves the right to request additional documentation or information to verify kinship to the Wilson family. 2. Complete and submit the Wilson Family Scholarship Application. 3. Applicant must meet one of the following requirements during the award year: Receiving a high school diploma Obtaining a GED certificate 4. Applicant must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5%. 5. Applicant must provide a copy of high school transcript or GED scores. (An unofficial copy of your transcript is acceptable for submission. If the applicant has not graduated by June 1 st ). 6. Applicant must attend a minimum of one Wilson Family Reunion within the last five years. This does not include the award year. Applicant must commit to volunteering at an upcoming Wilson Family Reunion or any reunion related activity. Assistance may include but are not limited to registration, set-up, fundraisers, etc. 7. Provide Proof of Enrollment to an accredited institution. See NOTE below. 8. Submit a 250 word essay-typed, double spaced of one of the following topics: What My Family Reunion Means To Me? How Can I Contribute to the Wilson Family Legacy? The Role of Family, Religion, and Community In My Life 9. Scholarship application packages must be postmarked no later than June 1 st of Award Year. Failure to submit the completed packages may result in disqualification. 10. Approved applicants will be notified once the committee receives and have reviewed all documents and information. The application review process can take up to 2 4 weeks to be completed. Page 1 of 4

Honey Springs Ave. Fuquay-Varina, NC or NOTE: Award recipients will be recognized at the Wilson Family Reunion. Scholarship monies will only be awarded after student provides proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning -- vocational, trade or college. Checks will be made payable to the institution and mailed to the student after receiving this information. If Proof of Enrollment is not received by the upcoming spring semester (January of year following award recognition), the awards are forfeited and will remain in the Wilson Family Scholarship Award account for future use.
