8 New initiatives in R&D 2017 PhD regulations with higher requirements for internationalization: More international publications At least 3 months spent in internship abroad Participation of foreign institutions in doctorial studies Participation in international research infrastructures In 2018, substantial investments will be made to join international research infrastructures (including ESFRI). Lithuania is planning to join and closely cooperate with: ELI (Extreme light infrastructure), EMBL (European Molecular Biology Laboratory), INSTRUCT (pan-european research infrastructure in structural biology), MAX IV (Swedish national laboratory providing X-ray facility), BBMRI-ERIC (Biobanking and biomolecular resources research infrastructure - European Research Infrastructure Consortium), EGI (advanced computing for research), WEAVE (next-generation spectroscopy facility for the William Herschel telescope).
