1 THSC FUNDING RESEARCH REPORT April 2014 A Research and Recommendation Report for the Texas Home School Coalition by the Senior-level Professional Report Writing Class of Texas Tech University
2 Executive Summary This report is written to provide the Texas Home School Coalition a list of possible new donors. Assembled by the Senior-level Professional Report Writing Class at Texas Tech University, this report summarizes our weeks of research. We hope that this report will identify some possible new sources for funding. Included in this report is any contact information that we could locate and a brief description of each foundation. In addition to this, we have included hardcopy grant applications whenever these documents were available. A detailed contact list and the grant applications are included in the appendix. 1 Introduction The right to an education is one of the hallmarks of American society. Without an educated electorate and citizenry, a nation cannot prosper. Knowing the lengths that the Texas Home School Coalition has gone to in order help the families of Texas educate their children, we hope that this report helps you locate additional funding. This report is designed to provide possible sources of funding for THSC. The report was prepared by a senior level Professional Writing class at Texas Tech University. We hope that we are able to provide an opportunity for THSC to locate new funding contributors.
3 Foundations For the list of possible funding sources for the Texas Home School Coalition, we have evaluated the following sources. We believe each source listed below is a good match for the needs and interests of THSC. These sources are primarily private foundations with interests in education. Also, most of the foundations are based in Texas. We divided the foundations into three categories: Those based in Lubbock (p. 3), those based in other Texas cities (p. 8), and those based in other states (p. 24). Each source includes the foundation s name, a brief description of the foundation, and a section explaining why we think the foundation might be interested in supporting THSC. Included in the 2 appendix section is a detailed list of contact information for each organization.
