5 MECHANICS We are looking for IoT solutions that: Showcase PLDT/SMART internet services Promote the usage of LTE or Fiber only Address current or future problems of our society Anchored on your IoT entry, we are looking for 5G solutions that will answer the following: What practical solution will address a difficult problem in our society? What do you think is the evolution of that technology? What do you think are samples of business models that can be provided by 5G?
6 MECHANICS IMPORTANT: Output for the IoT Challenge should be actual devices, not just mobile applications. Output for the 5G Challenge should be anchored on the team s IoT Challenge output.
7 WHO CAN JOIN? Open to all ICT and Engineering college students (e.g., IT, ECE, CoE, EE, ME, CompSci, etc.) Form a TEAM composed of: at least one official team coach who is a full-time faculty member of ICT or Engineering (or related courses) team members who are bona fide students of the school Optional: Additional coaches who are faculty members handling courses in Business or Management or Marketing
8 IMPORTANT POINTERS FOR THE TEAMS There is no limit to the number of members per team. However, Smart will only shoulder up to 4 members of the team including the faculty mentor for the Validation, Boot Camp, Final Judging and Awarding. Members are encouraged to include students from lower year levels to ensure continuity of the project. Ideally, team composition should represent various disciplines of Engineering, IT, Business, and Marketing. This is because aside from the actual wireless application, the entry should have a supporting business plan. Assign one student team leader recognized by the team members and TWO student presenters, who will represent the team in the panel defense/judging. One presenter for the IoT Challenge and another presenter for the 5G Challenge.

10 Teams joining the IoT CHALLENGE and 5G CHALLENGE are required to submit their project concept in video format; Each team needs to submit two videos--- one video for IoT, another video for 5G. Length of video must not exceed 3 minutes for IoT, and 2 minutes for 5G There should be no mention of the name of the school, team members, presenters Follow the recommended presentation flow using the guide questions below: What is the problem that you are trying to solve? Provide statistics and mention references. How will you solve it? Is there an existing similar solution? If yes, how will you solve it differently? Who and how big is your target market (user)? Provide validated statistics and mention references. PROJECT CONCEPT VIDEO PITCH How will you make money with your application? / What is your business plan?

15 SHORTLISTING >> JANUARY 30, 2019 Teams who will receive the grade of 80% and above (total weighted scores of IoT and 5G challenges) will move on to the next round. Teams will be informed through the team leader / faculty mentor if they made the cut on January 31, 2019 via ; The will also contain information on the schedule and other details of the Validation Round. Shortlisted Teams must immediately work on the prototypes of their IoT entries upon notification. The prototypes will be required for demonstration during the Validation Round.
16 BOOT CAMP >> MARCH 6-7, 2019 The Top 20 Shortlisted Teams will undergo a two-day mentoring session with representatives from various business units of SMART, its sister companies, partners and startups. Teams will be given the opportunity to fine-tune their concepts, application and/or prototypes or whitepapers in preparation for the Validation Round. The Top 20 Shortlisted Teams will have a live demonstration of their prototypes (actual devices) for the IoT Challenge, and a presentation of their video pitch for the 5G Challenge during the Validation round. They will all be interviewed by a panel of judges to get further information and validate their entries. From the Top 20 Shortlisted Teams, 10 teams will be selected as Finalists. Teams will be informed if they made the cut on the same day of the Validation Round.
17 FINAL JUDGING & AWARDING >> MAY 10, 2019 The Top 10 Finalists will exhibit their FINAL WORKING prototypes (actual device) on the day of the 15th SWEEP Innovation & Excellence Awards. Failure to produce a working prototype will automatically disqualify the team and forfeit their chances of winning any prize. IoT Challenge Finalists with working prototypes will undergo final judging by defending their project to a panel of judges selected by SMART who will identify the top three winners and winners of special awards, if any. Details of the Final Judging and SWEEP Awarding Ceremonies will be communicated to the teams on the same day.

21 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP) The student/faculty team warrants that the entry is their original idea, has not been entered in any other competition, and does not infringe on the intellectual property rights (IPR) of any third party. Wireless service applications and technologies that are already in commercial production may not be entered. With the exception of patented inventions and inventions covered by a pending patent application, entries must not have been publicly disclosed prior to submission and shall be maintained in confidence by the entrant and by SMART until the Exhibit and Awarding Ceremonies. However, SMART shall not be liable to any participant for commercializing ideas that have been independently developed by SMART but are similar in concept to submitted entries. The Top 10 selected entries for which the winning teams will undergo mentoring by SMART representatives for purposes of fine-tuning and developing prototypes and whitepapers, shall be co-owned by SMART. SMART becomes the co-owner of 50% of all the rights and interest thereto with the participants owning the other 50%, unless there is an existing IP policy of the school which prohibits them to fully own their 50% share. In case that there is already an existing IP policy of the school, the ownership sharing scheme for the remaining 50% between the school and participants shall be agreed upon by them and without SMART s participation, provided that such agreement shall not prejudice the rights and interest of SMART as stated herein.
22 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY (IP) And provided further that, if the whole 50% or a certain percentage belongs to the school as per the IP policy or as per agreement, the school shall grant the inventors/participants who wish to commercialize their technologies a non-exclusive perpetual license to the same, at such revenue sharing scheme as may be agreed by them. If the school IP policy prohibits them from granting a non-exclusive perpetual license to the participants/inventor, the school shall enter into an acceptable agreement with SMART and/or the participants for purposes of commercialization. The school and/or participants shall immediately inform SMART of the agreed sharing scheme as well as their authorized representative for purposes of transacting with SMART. (Please accomplish the IP ACCEPTANCE FORM which may be downloaded from the SWEEP website: Entries co-owned by SMART may not be commercially exploited without the written consent of SMART. However, after a 12-month period following the first public disclosure of the entry and provided that SMART has not initiated the commercial exploitation or formal Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection of said entry, ownership over the same shall be consolidated back into the school and/or participants, as applicable. Such failure of SMART to commercially exploit and/or formally protect the IPR of the entry shall automatically operate as waiver of its rights herein granted. In the event that any member of the MVP Group of Companies chooses to utilize or commercialize any of the entries, SMART and the school and/or participants shall agree with such member as to the terms and conditions of utilization or commercialization.
23 WAIVER Participants agree to abide by the terms of these Official Rules and by the decisions of SMART and/or the judges, which are final and binding on all matters pertaining to this contest. By joining the contest, the participants agree to waive any right to claim ambiguity or error in these Official Mechanics. Except where prohibited by law, the winners consent to the use of their name and/or likeness by SMART for advertising and publicity purposes without compensation. Each participant agrees that SMART and its parent company, agents, representatives, affiliates, and employees will have no liability whatsoever for any injuries, losses, or damages of any kind resulting from his participation in the contest, or resulting from the acceptance, possession, or use of these prizes, nor in any way are responsible for any warranty, representation, or guaranty, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any prize, including but not limited to the quality, condition, or fitness. Each participant agrees that SMART and its parent company, agents, representatives, subsidiaries, affiliates, and employees will have no liability whatsoever for any injury, loss, or damages of any kind resulting from the use of the entry, unless such entry has been formally offered by SMART to the public as a service or a product. Each participant warrants that it holds the necessary intellectual property right(s) over the entry, undertakes sole responsibility for any adverse or infringement claim(s) thereon, and further holds Smart, its directors, officers, employees, agents, parent company subsidiaries and affiliates free from any liability arising out of such adverse or infringement claim(s) including claim(s) for damages.
24 WAIVER SMART assumes no responsibility for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer systems, servers, software, Internet service providers, or systems; failure of any entry to be received on account of technical problems or incomplete, late, lost, damaged, illegible, misdirected, or postage-due mail; or any combination thereof, including damage to participants' or anyone else's computer equipment related to or resulting from participation or downloading of any materials in this contest. Any attempt by a participant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of this contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, SMART reserves the right to seek damages from any such participant to the fullest extent permitted by law.
