3 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY Momentum 2017, the 2 day startup conference and exhibition concluded successfully on 7th February, 2017 at Karachi Expo Center. The inaugural event welcomed on site over 150 startups, mobile operators, leading technology providers, academia, investors, entrepreneurs, policy makers and vast panel of national and international speakers. The event began on 6th February, 2017 with over 6000 attendees able to create their own programme from a wide range of high level options including Conference Sessions, Live Show case Demos and Interactive Panels. 50+ Speakers, Founders, Presenters and Mentors took to the stage, with the conference sessions drawing consistently strong attendance right across the themed agenda. First time such an event has been organized in Pakistan at Karachi Expo Center. It is a very interesting, encouraging and a very important event which was held today. Kamran Khan, Dunya News

8 DAY 1 6 th Feb 2017 MOMENTUM CONFERENCE ARENA The inaugural Momentum 2017 conference gathered leading and aspiring founders, investors, startups and executives to explore trends, opportunities, disruptions and major shifts in the startup eco system landscape in Pakistan. The event brought together promising startups, along with senior executives from some of the top technology companies, government agencies, incubators, banks, VC funds and academia. The event featured high profile local and international speakers who delivered numerous high level keynote presentations, interactive panel discussions, fire-side chats and startup stories. The day commenced with the opening remarks by event moderators Sana Mela and Samia Hasan followed by a Welcome address, by Syed Asif Jafri, Co-founder of Momentum and of Eocean highlighting the growing startup eco system and his vision to provide a collaborative platform to bring together the stake holders to embrace the young tech entrepreneurs to help build the knowledge economy of Pakistan. This was followed by an interesting keynote by Dr.Umar Saif, Chairman of Punjab IT Board on the importance of innovation for Pakistan. The next speaker Nadeem Hussain, Founder & Coach at Planet N Group of Companies delivered an enthralling keynote on emerging landscape of entrepreneurship. This was followed by a presentation on Customer experience in the digital age by Hana Habayeb, Developer Experience Director at Microsoft. The next speaker Muddasir Sheikha, Co-founder and at Careem captured the attention of the audience by sharing his views on The Billion Dollar Mindset. The first session concluded with an insightful and interesting talk on the topic of Startups in Pakistan Present & Future by Jehan Ara, President at P@sha. The session resumed with a talk on role of Private equity in the local startup eco system by Danish Elahi, of Elahi Group of Companies.This was followed by a keynote by Syed Irfan Ali, Executive Director of State Bank of Pakistan on the role of financial innovation in Pakistan. The session concluded with a talk on global emerging technology trends by Armughan Ahmed, SVP Global Solutions & Technology Alliances at Dell Inc. The third post-lunch session resumed with an interesting Fire side chat with Junaid Iqbal, Managing Director of Careem with Naeem Zamindar, of Acumen Pakistan. This was followed by a panel discussion on Women Entreprenuership which was moderated by Sadaffe Abid, Co-founder of Circle and the panelists included Gerrit Ribbink, Technical Team Lead Entreprenuership at Enclude Holdings; Dr Shahid Qureshi, Program Director at IBA-Aman- CED; and Mehak Jamal, Manager at Tech Hub Connect. The next speaker Naeem Zamindar, Acumen Pakistan captured the attention of the auhdience by sharing his views on Social entreprenurship and its role in development of Pakistan. The last interesting panel discussion of the day on Fintech- Challenges & Opportunities was moderated by Shehzad Shahid, of TPS and the panelists included Omar Moin Malik, Director Payment Easy Paisa at Telenor Pakistan; Adnan Ali, EVP Head of Payments at Summit Bank; Taha Imam, Business Strategy Officer at Inov8 & Zain Tariq, Co-founder at Urdu Bit. Day one concluded with closing remarks by Sana Mela and Samia Hasan.

9 DAY 2 7 th Feb 2017 MOMENTUM CONFERENCE ARENA Sana Mela and Samia Hasan presented the opening remarks followed by a need of the hour panel discussion on' How to fund your startup moderated by Com Mirza, of Mirza Holdings and the panelists included Bilal Khan, of OneEleven; Omer Ehtisham, of Dot Zero Ventures; Khurram Zafar, Executive Director of LUMS; and Saif Akhter, of 10xC. The first session concluded with a panel discussion on Building Stronger Startups Faster which was moderated by Sadaf Mehmood, and the panelists included: Jehan Ara, President at Pasha; Nabeel Qadeer, Director at Entrepreneurship and Enterprise PITB; Ali Fahd, Witribe; Hassan Bhatti, Partner at Quintus Capital; and Dr. Sara Khurram, Co-founder of Docthers. The second session resumed with a riveting panel discussion on How the IoT landscape is shaping up in Pakistan moderated by Dr. Mustanssar Tinauli, & Founder of Fori Mazdoori, and the panelists included Usman Dastagir, Head of IoT at Telenor and Abdul Rehman Talat, of BlueEast. The second session concluded with an interesting panel discussion on the topic of E-commerce opportunities and Challenges - Startup Death Trap moderated by Veqar Ul Islam, of Jaffer Business Systems and the panelists included Badar Khushnood, partner at Seed Ventures; Furqan Kidwai, of Well.pk, Nauman Afzal, Country Head Corporate at TCS and Khurram Zafar, Executive Director at LUMS. The third post lunch session resumed with a Momentum Pitch Competition where the top 3 finalists from the 20 competing Startups got an opportunity to pitch to the distinguished jury and an audience to be nominated as the Winner of Momentum Pitch Competition 2017 and for two runner up positions. The panel of judges included Raza Saeed of Pak Wheels; Khurram Zafar Executive Director at LUMS; Humayun Bashir, Former of IBM and Jehan Ara, President P@sha. The most inspiring and exciting session of the entire event was a Fireside chat with Imran Khan, the Chief guest of the event and Amer Hashmi,Vice Chairman Arfa Karim Foundation. The event concluded with the award ceremony where Imran Khan presented the cash prize of PKR 2 million to the 3 top Startup finalists.

10 M O M E N T U M S T A R T U P V I L L A G E Startup Village witnessed an enthralling participation from over 150 startups from all across Pakistan who showcased their products and services. There was huge enthusiasm and curiosity in the visitors who showed interest in different technologies, innovative approaches and ways to implement them. The event hosted senior executives from leading incubation centers and accelerators who shared their work methodologies on how they support the development of new business ideas by providing mentorship, business services and funding connections to early stage startups to prepare them for the next round. The Startup Village was hosted in a massive hall that also had a separate Pitching area where top 20 startups pitched live on-stage in front of an expert panel of judges and hundreds of attendees during the 2 days to qualify for the final round. It also hosted product launches and demos by various startups, ranging from smart traffic control systems to automated social media tools. Complimenting the sessions in the Startup village were a series of breakout sessions and presentations from leading cloud service providers such as Rapid Compute which highlighted the significance of IoT in transforming enterprises and explore ways for startups to scale and grow using cloud based technology and applications. The Startup Village was well received and much appreciated by all visitors and participants.

13 In keeping with Momentum s focus on fostering innovation and technology startups, the event introduced the Momentum inaugural Momentum Awards, recognizing the most innovative and promising Pakistani Startups. After two days of pitching, out of the 20 finalist companies selected to the competition, 3 tech Startups were selected as winners. The winning startups received a cash prize of PKR 2 Million.
