1 CALENDAR OF EVENTS AS AT AUGUST 2012 Initiative Descriptions Eligibility 2012 Dates Indigenous Mentoring Program (IMP) (CLOSED) Regionally focused culturally appropriate six-month programs partnering community sector workers as mentoree & mentor. It is envisaged that up to 2 people from each service attend. Focuses on enhancing the skills of youth workers to respond to at-risk young people with complex needs and develop integrated service delivery particularly focusing on partnerships with Youth Justice, Child Safety and Housing Youth workers in non-government organisations funded under the Youth at Risk Initiative. Foundation Training from Australian Childhood Trauma Group CHCFC301A Support the development of children Objectives: Understand the impact of trauma on our psychological, physiological and spiritual being Develop an ability to read the signs of trauma Reflect on the ways in which healthy attachments are impacted by trauma Explore what to do and when to do it or develop strategies to ease the impact of trauma Reflect upon approaches to healthier attachments Learn about self-care Up to 100 participants from frontline worker cohort across the spectrum of community work, to work with children ages 5 12 with trauma or loss. Suitable sector participants may include: Carers & workers from foster, permanent, residential, adoptive & kinship care Family service workers Child protection workers Case managers Youth Justice The Integrated Workforce Development Strategy has identified an immediate need for frontline workers across the full spectrum of community services to be trained to work with children (ages 5-12) with trauma, grief or loss.
