Broadway March 12 th and 19 th at 8:00 AM On March 12 th we will be constructing several garden planting beds. The residents will be able to grow their own vegetables, allowing them grow their self esteem while growing their food for dinner. We will construct the perimeter for the play structure that will be built on March 19 th. We will also be mulching the plant beds on the front of the house. TOOLS NEEDED FOR MARCH 12 WORK DAY. 1. SEVERAL WHEEL BARROWS. 2. PITCH FORK S OR SHOVELS On March 19 th we will be assembling the kids play structure. This will be a swing and climbing structure that is appropriate for 5 year old children. We will be building a perimeter area around the play area and installing rubber mulch. TOOLS NEEDED FOR MARCH 19 TH WORK DAY. 1. Small wrenches, screw drives or socket sets. Most bolts are less than 5/8. 2. Cordless drills or cordless ratchet drivers. 3. Pliers 4. Hammer 5. We may need 1 or 2 wheel barrows. NOTE: If the weather does not allow for us to work on March 12 th we will be doing both projects on March 19 th. Thank you for everyone who has signed up. 2 Beware of new scam A new purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members with the false claim that they or their club can become a polio ambassador by sending information to a particular address within 48 hours. The subject line of the fraudulent is "BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR. Next Fourth Thursday Next 4th Thursday March 24, 2016 at the Vault Food Bank Every Third Tuesday from 6 8 pm Columbia Rotary South will be on a recurring monthly schedule to work at the Central Missouri Food Bank. This is the set date for packing for the Senior Box Program. We encourage new members to volunteer as well as the veterans. Volunteer for a great opportunity to give back to the community! Ehrhardt 2016 RYLA Academy candidates The Missouri RYLA Academy is a 4 day, 3 night training program for high school Sophomores and Juniors who exhibit a desire for community service. Developed by some of Missouri's top professional educators, the curriculum is designed to identify and enhance the qualities of Servant Leadership for each participant, train them on how to successfully implement a service project, and inspire them to live a lifetime of "Service Above Self." In addition, participants are exposed to all the programs and values Rotary has to offer. Established in 1992, Missouri RYLA Academy has trained and inspired more than 2500 students state wide. It is currently a model for RYLA Academies worldwide. We need to get our candidates submitted to ASAP!! 4 ROTARY DOUGLASS CLASSROOM SPEAKER SIGN UP Several Douglass classrooms have asked for speakers in a wide range of subjects. This is a great opportunity for both Vocational and Community Service! The requests included: career readiness, pediatrician, teacher, lawyer/judge, hotel housekeeper, daycare worker, cosmetologist, midwife, government, court system, solar engineering, and physics. Speakers should be flexible, willing to work with students who may appear disinterested, although they are often listening, and enjoy talking about their career! If this is you, let Bob Smith or Chris Rigby know, indicating your subject. If a match is made, you will be called about times so that a mutually agreeable time can be scheduled! Through SHARE, Rotary districts share in the decision-making process by choosing which Rotary Foundation programs they wish to support and participate in. The Annual Fund SHARE system is the mechanism by which Rotary Foundation program awards are distributed worldwide. Through the SHARE system, contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into District Designated Funds (DDF) the funds your district can allocate and to the World Funds-The funds the Trustees allocate. By giving to Annual Fund-SHARE we support both local and international efforts! YOU CAN HELP OUR DISTRICT AND SUPPORT AMAZING PROJECTS BY GIVING TO THE ANNUAL FUND-SHARE DESIGNATION. Presidential Citation Earn a Presidential Citation from President K.R. Ravindran. This year s citation goals are measurable using the information your clubs provide online. Club and district officers can track a club s progress toward its goals and see where help is needed by checking the new Presidential Citation reports. 5 Rotary Direct District 6080 Rotarians enrolling in Rotary Direct for the first time will receive a 1:1 match of their first year's contribution; match will be with foundation recognition points. This offer is in effect only for the Rotary year The minimum match available is $100.
