2 PROMOTING ECONOMIC VITALITY The Over-the-Rhine Chamber of Commerce cultivates and promotes the economic vitality, cultural diversity, and innovative vision of its members and community. Your support makes our 2019 signature events possible, and through the success of the OTR Made Awards, OTR 5K Summer Celebration, and Second Sunday on Main, the OTR Chamber of Commerce is able to continue the forward momentum of our renowned business district. OTR IS SPECIAL In 2018, we had 46 new businesses open, and over 300 new jobs were created. Over the past two years, that adds up to 85 new businesses and over 650 local jobs. Each of our incredible business owners recognizes the importance of building their business here of being a contributor to our local economy. Your investment in the OTR Chamber also goes towards the following programs and initiatives, which provide opportunities for these businesses to thrive while creating and sustaining a strong urban core: Hosting merchant meetings, workshops and networking events for our 250+ OTR Chamber members, strengthening their network and providing relevant educational opportunities. Creating a comprehensive annual holiday marketing campaign, celebrating our unique businesses and their products while encouraging people to support our local economy by buying OTR made. Partnering with MORTAR and other local leaders on Represent, a new initiative to make OTR the most diverse business district in Cincinnati by deepening the success of minority-owned businesses to drive greater economic inclusion. Awarding Innovation Challenge Grants to organizations like Venice on Vine, The Sarah Center and Libby Shop, bringing a total $22,750 in grants awarded to 13 businesses since This retention grant funds creative partnerships or expansion projects to existing businesses in OTR. Awarding Business First Grants to businesses like The Arepa Place, Donovan Energy, and Quaintrelle, bringing a total of $450,000 in grants awarded to 31 businesses since This attraction grant funds capital improvements for new businesses opening in OTR. Giving a significant annual contribution to 3CDC s District Management Program, which provides crucial services to keep OTR a vibrant neighborhood through beautification, safety, and patron interaction, 7 days per week, 365 days per year. otrchamber.com 3

7 OTR 5K A SUMMER CELEBRATION Friday, May 17 th & Saturday, May 18 th The Over-the-Rhine 5K Run/Walk and Summer Celebration, now in its thirteenth year, is one of the biggest events in Over-the-Rhine and the annual kick-off to the summer in OTR. In 2018 we had over 960 participants, ranging from age 1 to 77! Over 4,000 people took part in Friday s Neighborhood Night with Art on Vine and Saturday s Summer Celebration with City Flea. A post-race survey found that 50% of participants said it was their first time running the OTR 5K. 84% said they stayed in OTR to explore after the event. OTR CHAMBER 2019 HOLIDAY CAMPAIGN Each year we develop a unique holiday campaign that includes online and print media, events, a press conference, video, and television. Our team of Over-the-Rhinedeer Ambassadors assists guests, and we sell a one-of-a-kind gift that benefits a local charity. 9 OTR CHAMBER BUSINESS ATTRACTION AND RETENTION PROGRAMS INNOVATION CHALLENGE GRANT SPONSORSHIP LEVELS & BENEFITS: The Innovation Challenge Grant awards up to $10,000 of grant funds to OTR businesses and organizations for projects that will help them expand their business or fund a new partnership or service. Previously awarded grantees include Venice on Vine, Spruce Nail Shop and MORTAR, bringing a total of $22,750 in grants awarded to 14 businesses since This retention grant funds creative partnerships or expansion projects to existing businesses in OTR. BUSINESS FIRST GRANT The Business First Grant (BFG) exists to benefit OTR by strengthening the local economy, increasing business and employment opportunities, and creating a diverse, healthy, and sustainable business district. Businesses selected through the Business First Grant Program s competitive process will be awarded a matching grant up to $20,000 for furniture, fixtures and equipment (FFE) and tenant improvements (TI). Previously awarded grantees include Senate, Rookwood Pottery, and Artichoke, bringing a total of $450,000 in grants awarded to 31 businesses since This attraction grant funds capital improvements for new businesses opening in Over-the-Rhine.
