3 MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT What an incredible year! The Sigma Kappa Foundation is thrilled to celebrate you, our amazing donors, and share real examples of how your gifts made a difference in the lives of our sisters. The programs and initiatives Sigma Kappa Foundation supports are the heart of Sigma Kappa. Through grants to the Sorority, our members are afforded numerous opportunities to become bold, engaged and powerful women; women who will positively impact our communities. At the same time, scholarships and grants provided to collegiate and alumnae sisters encourage and carry them through challenging situations. With your sustained financial support, Sigma Kappa will continue to accomplish its purpose of providing women with lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual and spiritual development. 6 Sigma Kappa Foundation donors have been a driving force for change. We have made great strides, shattered goals and accomplished monumental achievements. We aren t done yet the best is yet to come. PULSE ANNUAL FUND Since 1962, the Foundation has primarily fundraised for the annual fund, today called PULSE. The annual fund helps meet the current needs of the Sorority and its members. SHARED HEARTS. NEW HEIGHTS. A CAMPAIGN FOR SIGMA KAPPA Shared Hearts. New Heights. Campaign is a five year, $5 million endeavor that is building on our foundation of bringing women together to make a difference and further position Sigma Kappa as a leader among sororities. The campaign is designed to raise significant funds, build our endowment to support upcoming initiatives and secure a stronger future for Sigma Kappa and all its members. As of August 2018, we have reached $4.3 million of the $5 million goal! More good news is that we have completed both the philanthropy and scholarship priorities of our campaign. We are now focusing on the biggest area of the campaign, leadership. We have identified four specific leadership programming areas that need enhancement: Regional Leadership Conferences, leadership consultant program, member development programs for collegiate and alumnae members and a service immersion program.

9 I can t say enough good things about our LC. I m not sure if it is because we had such frequent contact with her or because she was amazing at her job, but our chapter benefited so much from the LC visit.

10 CHAPTER I continue to deeply admire the organization and all of the strong women that surround me. This grant means relief, security, and the meaning behind true sisterhood, and I cannot thank Sigma Kappa enough for all it continues to give me. Collegiate Emergency Grant recipient, Spring 2018

11 & INDIVIDUAL GRANTS The Foundation supports sisters through the good times and bad. One area of focus is sisters in need. Times have been hard due to the significant number of natural disasters such as hurricanes and wildfires. Personal tragedies and illnesses have also plagued our sisters. For many of these sisters, the Sigma Kappa Foundation was able to provide relief from these challenging times through the Sister to Sister Disaster Recovery Fund, Alumnae Heart Fund and the newly-formed Collegiate Emergency Grants. While our individual grants help one person, our 1874 Giving Circle chapter grants focus on the communities in which our collegiate chapters reside. Identifying unmet needs, these grant recipients design robust projects that not only showcase the generosity and service nature of Sigma Kappa values but highlight the positive aspects of sorority life. 14 PHILANTHROPIC GRANTS The Foundation inspires our sisterhood to excel in philanthropic service to benefit society. We encourage diversity of thought and embrace change creating a direct and positive impact on our sisters and the world today. This year we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Maine Seacoast Mission as our national philanthropy. Once again, we funded a grant for the Mission s Housing Repair Program to repair, weatherize and refurbish the homes of low-income residents, including the elderly of Washington County, Maine. Members of the Zeta Phi Chapter, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, worked on repairing the roof of a house during summer /////////// /////////// /////////// /////////// $10,000 Total amount awarded Maine Seacoast Mission became our national philanthropy Number of houses refurbished /////////// /////////// /////////// /////////// Alzheimer s Association Update Sigma Kappa s $1 million lead gift to support the Women s Alzheimer s Research Initiative is aiding important research. 16 SCHOLARSHIPS The pursuit of an education is fundamental to our members. Sigma Kappa Foundation is uniquely positioned as a resource for our members who need assistance as they face the rising cost of education today. Academic scholarships allow our sisters, both undergraduate and graduate students, to put more of their time and energy into academics and personal development during school. The Foundation also offers scholarships to attend Undergraduate Interfraternity Institute and Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values (AFLV) LeaderShape Institute summer conferences.
