2 1 Introduction The Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival 2013 is a special time of celebration for Western Australian seniors. From Sunday 10 November to Sunday 17 November, events and activities are held across Western Australia to acknowledge seniors and show our appreciation for their valued contribution to society. COTA WA, in partnership with Lotterywest and the Department for Communities, invites organisations to apply for funding to help meet the cost of hosting events and activities, which are held from Sunday 10 November to Sunday 17 November Applications for grants of up to $1000 are now open and close on Monday 12 August. Grants in excess of $1000 may be approved for more substantial Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival initiatives. This will be assessed according to the type of initiative proposed and the level of supporting information provided. Visit to apply. About the grants program 1.1 Objectives The Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival Community Grants Program provides financial assistance to organisations hosting local events during the festival period. Events should meet at least one of the following aims of the festival which are: to recognise and thank seniors for their contribution to the community to promote intergenerational activities linking seniors to the community to facilitate artistic, cultural and celebratory expression within the community to engage seniors in a variety of activities and initiatives that encourage active ageing. Applications are strongly encouraged for events aimed at seniors who: would not normally participate in WA Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival activities are at risk of becoming socially isolated are members of Indigenous or Culturally and Linguistically Diverse communities. Applications for funding will be assessed against the extent to which the proposed activity or event meets the Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival objectives outlined above. 1.2 Who can apply? The Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival Community Grants Program is open to all notfor-profit, religious and charitable organisations, public companies limited by guarantee and local government authorities based in Western Australia. 3 To be eligible for funding, not-for-profit organisations must be incorporated. Where an organisation is not incorporated, the application must be supported by an incorporated not-for-profit or local government organisation and a letter of support must be supplied with the application for funding. The following business structures are not eligible to apply for funding under this program: federal and state government agencies individuals commercial for-profit organisations. 1.3 What can be funded Funds received through this program may be used as a contribution towards program costs. Such expenses may include but are not limited to: administrative expenses advertising and promotion catering, food and drink (note: a maximum of 10% of the total funding received can be used for catering purposes) entrance / admittance fees insurance project materials staff wages transport costs venue and equipment hire other miscellaneous expenses. As the Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival is focused on celebratory events, some funding will be available to support artistic and cultural events. This will mean that payment to artists and tickets to performances may also be funded under the grants program if the community benefit is shown in the application. The grant cannot be used for: purchasing capital items or infrastructure, including office equipment, furniture, machinery, etc. Page 3 of 13

4 Funded activities and events must be held during the Bendigo Bank Seniors Festival Week from Sunday 10 November to Sunday 17 November Retrospective funding will not be made available. Events cannot take place outside of Western Australia. Please note this is not a recurrent funding program; however, successful applicants from previous years are still encouraged to apply. Previously unsuccessful applicants are also encouraged to apply Previously funded activities The events and activities that have been funded in the past have been very varied in nature. Below are some examples to help you plan your event. Events or activities other than those listed below are also eligible for funding: come and try days, sports and exercise programs, crafts, photographic displays, etc. dances, concerts, stand-up comedy acts art exhibitions or workshops cultural performances expos, trade shows and open days intergenerational events, photography, workshops, quiz nights, etc. balls and awards nights hiring a bus to attend an organised event or venue, visiting a community garden or museum or holding a mystery bus tour information sessions activity days morning tea, lunch or afternoon tea with guest speakers. You are required to acknowledge the sponsors of this grants program in all publicity and promotions of your funded event. These organisations, COTA WA, Department for Communities and Lotterywest, can be acknowledged by use of the organisations logos or by the statement: This event is funded through the Bendigo Page 4 of 13

The name Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival will be used in relation to any communications about Seniors Week. 3. You will provide certification of expenditure and acquit the funds received on the form provided by 5pm, Friday 6 December Any unexpended funds will be returned to COTA WA by 5pm, Friday 6 December Submitting your application To complete your application you will need to complete the form included in this package. Make sure you answer all questions. When submitting your application please do not bind hard copy applications in any way other than with a paper clip. Applications close at 5pm, Monday 12 August Please note Bendigo Bank does not sponsor this grants program and will not accept applications for funding for Bendigo Bank Seniors Week Festival 2013 events. 6 1.6 What happens now? Once applications have closed, at 5pm on Monday 12 August 2013, the selection panel comprising representatives from the Department for Communities and COTA WA, will meet to discuss the applications. All applicants will then be advised of the outcome of their applications. It is anticipated this process will be completed by late August, and successful applicants will be advised by early September. Page 6 of 13
