1 With the passage of the Companies Act, 2013 and CSR Rules in place, the corporate world is keen to associate with credible VOs/ NGOs. CA evolved, after extensive consensus building within civil society, for good governance, transparency and accountability. CA has some set Norms which the VOs has to strictly abide with and due to this practice the VOs has made overall development and has attracted funding from donor agencies. It needs to be mentioned that the norms form the basis for due diligence for several philanthropic agencies as well. But the sobering thought is that CA has but reached a small proportion of the groups, many isolated in the rural hinterland. Its message of transparency and good governance has yet to get to them. A number of initiatives are being taken that will enable Credibility Alliance to come into sight. The systematic efforts of Credibility Alliance have enabled it to Accredit over 550 NGOs which are now available to various agencies/ organizations for possible partnership. CA plans on a complete website overhaul and intends to develop a Comprehensive Automation System; a CSR based knowledge system will be established in the website which can be readily accessed by all companies/ Corporates interested in supporting CA accredited NGOs as part of their CSR expenditure.. A new HR policy is in the process of finalization. Credibility Alliance has launched the second edition of the CSR handbook, which puts it in the major league of experts on issues related to corporate social responsibility. CA intends to organize workshops in major cities after the launch of the book. A donor dialogue day is also planned where representatives of leading agencies will be invited. CA has already brought out the second Development Impact report and is at present working on the third issue that deals with small NGOs under the theme of fighting poverty. These reports show case the nature of the work, the range of programmes implemented, by CA Accredited NGOs Credibility Alliance is now a part of Project SAMMAAN on CSR which was launched by hon'ble President of India on 29th April The project is in collaboration with CII, BSE and IICA. The benefit of this project will go directly to those VO's which are Accredited by CA. We are getting this opportunity to link our Credible VO s directly with the corporate Credibility Alliance's vision and mission are as valid today as they were at the beginning of the decade. The developments unfolding in the public and corporate domains presage an even greater collaboration between them and the voluntary sector. Director: Cherag Chatwal
2 Credibility Alliance (CA) is a national level consortium of Voluntary Organizations committed to enhancing accountability and transparency in the voluntary sector through improved and good Governance practices. Following a two-year long extensive consultative process involving more than 1500 organizations from across the country, the Alliance emerged as an initiative from within the sector and was registered in May 2004 as an independent, not-for-profit organization. The Core programme areas of Credibility Alliance comprise of: Accreditation Capacity Building Networking Information dissemination The initiative of Credibility Alliance aims to enhance the credibility of the Voluntary Sector through promoting Credibility Alliance Norms of Good Governance and by building capacities of Organizations to comply.
3 CAC: Central Accreditation Committee (CAC) meeting was held on Nov 26, 2015 at CA Office. Total 7 files were presented in CAC Meeting for approval of Accreditation under Desirable/ Minimum Norms. Dr. Gautam Vohra (Chairperson of CAC), Mr. Vijay Sardana and Ms.Richa Chaudhary (CAC Member ), Mr. Cherag Chatwal (Director of Credibility Alliance ), Ms. Tejinder Kaur (Deputy Manager Acc & admin) and Mr.Sachin Dhar (Accreditation Coordinator) attended the meeting. AGM:- Annual General body Meeting (AGM) of Credibility Alliance was held on November 14, WEBSITE: Website of Credibility Alliance is going through it's restructuring phase. We are also under a process of developing an Accreditation software which will promote Comprehensive Automation Of Accreditation System. Through this all our partners will be able to access their account online & it will easier the further process of accreditation for new members. An overview of the software and salient features of our new website & software will be given once our website is ready. SAMMAAN:- Credibility Alliance is now a part of Project SAMMAAN on CSR which was launched by hon'ble President of India on 29th April The project is in collaboration with CII, BSE and IICA. The benefit of this project will go directly to those VO's which are accredited by CA. We are getting this opportunity to link our Credible VO s directly with the corporate. PUBLICATION:- Credibility Alliance is in the process of publishing a book Development Impact- III on profile of 20 small category VOs which are Accredited by Credibility Alliance and whose annual budget is less that Rs 25 Lakhs. In this publication the profiles of the NGOs have been culled from their Annual Reports and website which the committee goes through along with other documents.
4 An initiative by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), BSE and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Sammaan is a platform that is the first of its kind that bridges the accountability gap between corporations and NGOs. Companies today find it increasingly hard to navigate the world of corporate social responsibility. They have no way to validate the legitimacy of the NGOs or be sure of how the funds are being utilised. With Sammaan, they can now pick from verified NGOs and avail periodic reports. Credibility Alliance is an associate partner to help list on SAMMAAN to guide through the process of enlisting NGOs and their projects on the SAMMAAN platform which include: Documenting the proposals in a template and make it 'Sammaan ready'. Help in registering, reporting and other related activities. Sammaan is a first of its kind initiative in the world which enables companies to undertake effective CSR activities by connecting them to non-profit and nongovernment agencies that have legitimate records. As per a recent analysis done by BSE, there are 1,294 companies listed on its exchange that are required to spend nearly Rs.7,800 crores on CSR activities in the FY'16. Sammaan brings together BSE's exchange capabilities along with Confederation of Indian Industry's (CII's) strong industry connect and Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs's (IICA's) knowledge expertise to enable effective CSR compliance.
