4 JOINT INDO-DANISH CALL ON WATER AND ENERGY Prioritised research and innovation areas Water: Solutions to global water challenges within all fields of water. Fx water usage, treatment, control, and management of water and wastewater for different purposes like agriculture, industry, portable etc. Energy: Development and integration of renewable energy based solutions and energy efficiency in electricity and heating systems Call Deadline: 14. august :00 Available funding in 2018 IFD budget is 2 million (15 million DKK). Similar budget available in India by DST and DBT. Significant co-financing is expected. IFD will cover a maximum of 75% of the project s total cost.

5 EVALUATION CRITERIA DBT, DST and IFD will select the proposals according to their respective procedures and assessment criteria. IFD s general criteria are: a) Quality of research and innovation; b) value creation; c) efficiency and implementation Special emphasis: The projects should Have an industrial perspective Have participation from both Indian & Danish companies (strongly encouraged). have activities conducted on both sides Have activities evenly distributed among Indian and Danish applicants be well integrated on the Indian and Danish side (in the proposal) be Innovative.

6 WHO CAN APPLY? (PARTICIPATION/CONSORTIA) Any legal entity that are directly involved in the project activities is eligible to apply or participate and receive funding from IFD. It can be an enterprise, a research institution or a public institution in or outside of Denmark. Min. one entity in Denmark and one in India. 7 MORE ON THE FUNDING OF EACH PARTICIPANT Categories: salaries, equipment (equipment, materials, etc.) other project-related costs (events, transportation, travel, accommodation/ catering, communication), external services (consultancy costs or services), overhead Costs must be divided into a) Industrial research generating new knowledge b) Experimental Development using existing knowledge Maximum investment rates are: SMEs Industrial research: 75% - Experimental development: 50 % Large comp. - Industrial research: 65% - Experimental development 40 % State institutions, including research institutions in DK: 90 % of project costs GTS: 60% of project costs for non-profit research activities, else considered like a company.

10 EU-INDIA H2020 CALL ON WATER Call period: 27 October 2017 and closed on 27 February Call addressed: Drinking water purification with a focus on emerging pollutants Waste water treatment with scope for resource/energy recovery, reuse, recycle and rainwater harvesting, including bioremediation technologies Real time monitoring and control systems in distribution and treatment systems Special focus Project activities were expected to focus on On Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) 3 to 6. developing new and/or adapting the most suitable existing innovative solutions for Indian conditions (urban and rural) - with a strong demonstration component. taking into account India s water challenges. 11 INDIA S WATER CHALLENGES ACCESS 1. Access to safe water for drinking and other domestic needs. POLLUTION / SAFE WATER, ENVIRONMENT and HEALTH 2. Growing pollution of water sources, especially from industrial effluents WASTAGE/INEFFICIENT USE /WATER MANAGEMENT 3a. Groundwater is perceived as individual property and is exploited inequitably and without any consideration for its sustainability. 3b. Low consciousness about the overall scarcity and economic value of water. 3c. Inter-regional, inter-state, intra-state, as also inter-sectoral disputes in sharing of water. 4. Inadequate maintenance of existing irrigation infrastructure. 5. shortage of trained personnel for scientific planning, utilizing modern techniques and using analytical capabilities incorporating information technology.
