Philanthropy is a powerful tool that is everlasting, a legacy of giving that interconnects our lives across time, from the past to the future, reflecting our charitable values. With this in mind, what will your legacy be like today tomorrow and for the next generation? If you are not sure of the answer, the Community Foundation for San Benito County is prepared to help you begin your legacy journey, where your values will be embraced, your passions will be preserved, and your giving will be forever. The core work of the Community Foundation is to build legacies and create a thriving community, one journey at a time, but the change begins with you our generous donors, fund holders, and community partners. The Community Foundation has exciting work ahead of us, and I am grateful to our professional team of board and staff who are deeply committed to providing the highest level of philanthropic service for our community. We are excited to share our community impact with you through this Annual Report, and I thank you for being a part of our journey! Together, we will continue to make a difference. Grants 56 Grants: $472,971 Donor Advised Funds Grants: $927,017 Total Grants* 176 Grants: 1,399,988 *Numbers based on all grant distributions for 2015 DONOR VIEW FRANZ & MARY SCHNEIDER We support the Community Foundation for San Benito County because we believe it adds strength to local organizations doing good work.
4 Community Enhancement A grant in the amount of $10,000 partially funded a new Tourism Program. A contract with The Cooking Ladies led to several articles after they visited more than 20 places of interest in San Benito County. They continue to share upcoming events with their followers. 12% Education & Youth A grant for $10,000 has allowed Chamberlains to attain a Joint Commission National Accreditation demanding high quality screening and treatment to better assess, diagnose, and treat a child helping kids to heal, grow, and reach their goals! 26% Health & Social Services Foster Grandparent volunteers, like Grandma Teresa, were supported with a grant for $6,570 in order to provide tutoring for elementary students. First grader, Chris said, I love Grandma Teresa. She reads good to me and she talks good. Now I can read to her too! 53% Arts & Culture A $10,000 grant was used partly to help fund endeavors at the ARTspace, including classes, workshops, exhibitions, and programming that fosters community engagement in the arts. 8% Breakdown of Fields of Interest by Percentage Community Impact Stories 2015 Don Smith Photography
5 Total Grants By Year $956, $1,280, $1.4 Million Total Grants $1,399,988 Total Community Impact Grants + Donor Advised Funds = Total Grants Latino Generations A $10,000 donation was received by the Latino Generations Endowment for their Scholarship. Funded by Fr. Larry Betrozoff, this scholarship is dedicated for San Benito County Latino students who possess an economic need. Specialty Funds Rajkovich Children s Fund The Martin Rajkovich Children s Fund provides grants for quality of life services to sick and chronically ill children living in San Benito County. Ashely Laurie and her family recieved a grant in the amount of $7,000 for an ADA van modification. Women s Fund A grant in the amount of $25,000 was awarded to the Cafecitos Community Café Project, a two year domestic violence prevention program managed by Community Solutions for the Oaxacan community.
