2 Please submit just one application and list under the penultimate question any positions which you would be interested in if you are not offered your first choice. It will aid us greatly if you give multiple options. The deadline for the roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary is Sunday 28 th April at 5pm. The deadline for all other roles is Sunday 5 th May at 5pm. We urge early applications if possible. The outgoing committee will then arrange handover meetings. With each job description is a contact name you can follow up with to find out more about the role. If you are applying for the position of Chair, Treasurer or Secretary, you will need to be nominated and seconded by a member of the current RAG Administrative Committee and you will also be required to submit a manifesto. Please your manifesto and the names of your nominator and seconder to Susie on president@cambridgerag.org.uk by Sunday 28 th April. How are the appointments made? The Chair, Secretary and Treasurer will be elected at the AGM on 5 th May. Candidates will be invited to speak for up to 5 minutes and then take questions before the vote is carried out. Following the AGM, the outgoing Executive Committee and incoming Chair, Secretary and Treasurer will appoint the Team Leaders (Publicity, Raids and Events Coordinators). The remaining positions will then be appointed by the incoming Executive Committee that is, the Senior Treasurer, President, Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Raids Coordinator, Events Coordinator and Publicity Coordinator. Who should apply? The simple answer is: anyone. If you want to raise money for charity and are prepared to put in some time and effort we can usually find a role for you in RAG, whatever your talents. It is a common misconception that we want people with a lot of prior experience in RAG or other fundraising- while such experience is very useful the truth is that many of our most capable and successful committee members are newcomers to the world of RAG who bring in fresh ideas and perspectives, and we are definitely at our most effective when we have a combination of experience and fresh insights. Also, don t worry if you don t have some of the skills suggested below as beneficial to particular roles - if you re interested in the job we still want to hear from you. Why should I apply? Firstly, and most importantly, you can raise a lot of money for some very worthy causes, and that s always a good thing. RAG can equip you to raise money in some very large quantities if you want to, because we have the experience, contacts and resources to do so.

3 Secondly, RAG is fun! It s hard work some of the time, but it s fun and fulfilling all of the time. You ll be working with a group of dedicated and enthusiastic people who share your desire to help good causes. We will be working harder than ever next year to ensure there are some good socials for our volunteers. Thirdly, RAG can add value to your CV. Running RAG events and other particulars often takes some serious organising and the experience and many of the skills you will acquire working in RAG will, if presented correctly, demonstrate to potential employers that you have many of the qualities they will be looking for. Job Specifications Chair The Chair is the head of the Administrative and Executive Committees and the formal leader of RAG. The responsibilities of the Chair include: Overseeing and guiding the activity of RAG as a whole, providing strategic input and direction. Ensuring that all officers of RAG are performing their functions adequately. Taking personal responsibility to remedy where RAG officers are not performing their functions adequately. Secretary The Secretary is an elected member of the Executive Committee and therefore shares responsibility with the Chair to oversee and guide the activity of RAG as a whole. It is envisaged that these officers would contribute heavily to RAG Week, and the RAG Week officer will also look to recruit other members of RAG to contribute to the organisation of events during RAG Week. Examples of events which have been organised by this team include: Bake sales Zumbathon Karaoke night Speed Dating Comedy nights Contact Lnidsay Morlock (events@cambridgerag.org.uk) for more information. Overseeing distribution of publicity materials. Contact Maddy Lawson (publicity@cambridgerag.org.uk) for more information. Reps Liaison Officer (2 positions) With a large body of reps, it is sometimes difficult for the President and Chair to keep track of everything that is going on. The Reps Liaison Officers are in charge of Ensuring that each college has a functioning group of reps Encouraging reps to come to meetings and socials Compiling a database of information about each college (names of reps, successful events done in the past, potential events for the future, general commitment and expertise of reps etc). Encouraging reps to put on RAG events in their college and providing advice for how they should go about achieving this. This role requires good social skills, lots of enthusiasm and an ability to enthuse other people. No previous experience necessary. Graduate Liaison Officer Most RAG events are targeted at the undergraduate market. We are looking for an officer, a graduate or a fourth-year undergraduate, to liaise with MCRs and help to find and coordinate graduate reps in some of the colleges. They should also focus on aspects of publicity which are more suitable to a grad market. Contact Becky Kershaw (rdk30) for more information. Helping to organise a presentation event at the end of the year at which cheques are presented to our ten charities. Contact Natalia Wroblewska (nhw25) for more details. Raids Officer (4 positions) Raids, the public collections where we use our characteristic buckets, are the bread and butter of RAG activity. We get permits for nearly every Saturday of term and run several collections in London during and between the terms. The main job of the Raids Team is to run the Saturday collections from the RAG office by: Equipping and instructing raiders. Counting the money raised. Helping with banking money. Publicising raids and recruiting people to the London raids and tours. Thinking up ways to make raids attractive to new volunteers and enjoyable for those taking part, such as making cakes for raiders. Experience with raiding is highly advisable. Applicants should be aware that many of the hours spent in the RAG office will not require much activity related to the raids so reading or working is possible. Contact Phoebe Pearce (raids@cambridgerag.org.uk) for more details. External Raids Officer We are looking for a dedicated officer to work on the logistical arrangements for the raids that take place outside of Cambridge. This will involve Coordinating recruitment of volunteers. Ensuring that everyone is properly equipped and knows when and where to go. Arranging permits with charities. Current ideas for what this challenge could be include a Firewalk or Three Peaks Challenge. This is an ideal post for anyone who is keen to take part in a RAG or Student Adventures challenge too! See the Student Adventures website for more information, and contact Susie Yates (president@cambridgerag.org.uk) for more details. Auction Officer This event takes place in Easter Term every year. Arranging a venue and auctioneer for the event. Publicising the event, with the help of the Publicity Coordinator. RAG Week Officer RAG Week is a major focal point of the RAG calendar which usually takes the form of a number of small events over a period of around 4 days and includes the annual RAG Carnival. The RAG Week Officer will be responsible for: Recruiting a team to put on central events during RAG Week. This will largely consist of members of the Small Events Team and other members of the RAG Administrative Committee. Encouraging RAG Reps to put on an event in their college during RAG Week. Putting together the timetable for RAG Week. These events would fill gaps in Michaelmas and Lent Term and make up the bulk of RAG Week. Contact Lindsay Morlock (events@cambridgerag.org.uk) for more details. Designer

8 We are looking for an officer to focus on the visual aspects of our publicity material. This primarily means designing posters and flyers, but may also extend to photography at RAG events. Contact Maddy Lawson (publicity@cambridgerag.org.uk) for more details. 9 We are looking for two Publicity Officers to coordinate all publicity from design to distribution for specific events throughout the year, which will be assigned to them by the Publicity Coordinator. Generally we are looking for people to: Work with the Publicity Coordinator to maintain, extend and improve publicity. For specific events they would be expected to: Create and update and take responsibility for Facebook groups, posters and other visual media. Work ad hoc with people outside of RAG who have specific skills, as necessary. Lost Officer (2 positions) Lost was relaunched in Cambridge just 18 months ago. It raised just under 7000 this year, a big increase on the previous year, and the aim is to develop it into an event that is as large and popular as Jailbreak. Participation in Lost this year, or in other forms of charity hitchhiking such as Jailbreak, is not essential but could be very useful. We are looking for two people to take charge of the event, which will include managing publicity, coordinating signups, booking transport, ordering T-shirts, choosing the drop-off location and creating the list of challenges. Jailbreak Officer (4 positions) This is Cambridge RAG s biggest event in terms of fundraising, having made over 54,000 in 2012 and money is coming in fast for Jailbreak We are looking for four officers to promote and manage the event. Previous participation in Jailbreak or Lost is not essential but could be useful. Blind Date Officer (2 positions) This is Cambridge RAG s biggest event in terms of participation, with approximately 2500 forms sold every year. We are looking for two officers to organise the design of the forms, arrange deals in local clubs and bars, coordinate sales and the swap meeting and generally take charge of the event. College Rep (many positions) Want to run RAG in your own college? Keen to sample of a bit of every aspect of RAG? Then apply to be a College Rep. If your college has its RAG Rep as an elected part of the JCR, we would still welcome your application to get involved in RAG activity but we advise you to consult your elected college rep first. In most cases, we are able to establish an arrangement in which anyone who wants to get involved with RAG can do so. As a college rep, your main role would be to organise fundraising events in your college and to promote centrally organised RAG events. Other duties will involve liaising with the Chair, Secretary and President, and other members of the Central Committee, attending regular RAG Reps meetings, and participating in and recruiting for the Raids.

10 Contact your current college reps for more details. A list of reps in each college can be found at Alternatively, contact Susie Yates (president@cambridgerag.org.uk)
