6 Funding Increase the per-meal reimbursement for school breakfast and lunch by 35 cents to ensure School Food Authorities (SFAs) can afford to meet federal requirements.

17 USDA estimates that the additional half cup of fruit will cost 27 cents. Where is the money? School Nutrition Association is asking for 10 cents in the form of food to help us offset the costs. We all know that students who have breakfast perform better on tests, have improved classroom behavior and attendance. Currently schools receive USDA Foods for lunch support but not breakfast. Providing us with USDA foods for breakfast would help to offset the costs of the new breakfast requirement, assist schools in improving menus, and help America s farmers.

18 Program Simplification Provide $1 million for an independent study of federal reporting requirements for Child Nutrition Programs in an effort to develop a more efficient, unified and consolidated reporting system.

21 Program Simplification Require all State and local agencies that determine eligibility for SNAP/TANF benefits and foster child status to provide that information to State Administrative Agencies so that they may provide the information to all SFAs Expand the Medicaid Direct Certification/Verification to all states and SFA s and make it permanent Expand Direct Certification to CACFP

22 Program Simplification Provide a single database that is available to all SAs and SFAs that houses current Product Formulation Statements, Nutrient Analyses/Nutrition Facts Sheets, End Product Data Schedules, and CN labeled products Establish consistent minimum reporting requirements for SAs and SFAs and implement a timeline for data collection and submission of reports We must all work together to identify areas for simplification and offer solutions for streamlining processes and eliminating paperwork.

24 Expand Direct Certification Require all state and local agencies; Health and Human Services, Social Services, who determine eligibility for SNAP and TANF benefits to provide that information to State Departments of Education so that they can provide the information to all School Food Authorities (SFA s) Expand the Medicaid Direct Certification Pilot to all states and SFA s and make it permanent Expand Direct Certification to CACFP

25 Unpaid Meal Charges Section 143 of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of The Secretary, in conjunction with State and LEAs, shall examine current policies and practices relating to providing children who are without funds a meal, and prepare a report with recommendations. USDA is provided the authority to act on appropriate solutions.
