1 March Issue Greetings from the Arts Leadership Program! Internships, internships - Academic year, summer and post graduate deadlines fast approach! Spring Break is a good time to prepare your application materials -- don't wait until the last minute on this. You'll be preparing cover letters, résumés and goals statements. For summer, host applications, job descriptions, and expense budgets in some cases are also required. Upcoming Important Dates at a Glance Friday, March Academic Year Internship applications due Friday, March Summer/Post Graduate Internship applications due April Academic Year Internship interviews Monday, April 2, 9 am -- ALP Course Pre-registration forms due Tuesday, April 10, 10-11:30 am -- **SPECIAL EVENT: Panel Discussion with Ensemble Signal** (more information here) In this issue: ALP Academic Year Internships for ALP Summer & Post Graduate Internships ALP Advising Working in the IML office Recent ALP Accomplishments ALP Reunion Careers Corner & Upcoming Special Events Highlight on Alumni ALP Academic Year Internships Application Deadline -- Friday, March 30 1 of 5 7/24/17, 3:50 PM

2 All the details on the process are here. Because of the large number of you planning to intern next year, internships will be competititve. Be sure to: 1) Finish your research here. There have been a few updates to job descriptions and a couple new internships added. Make sure you're aware of everything that is available. 2) Identify 3 internships for which you would like to interview. My recommendation is that you pick a couple you are really interested in, then pick a "stretch" internship. Something you're maybe not quite sure about, but think would challenge you and give you some great experience. 3) Provide a complete and professional application. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. All materials should be typed, not handwritten. Go to the Careers online resources page for help with your résumés and cover letters. Be sure to include information that is relevant to the intern job description. Don't assume. Remember, the host organizations do not know you, so a little detail may be necessary. Want more help? Set up an advising session OR follow Career's 3 Easy steps to get help on your cover letters or résumés. Summer and Post Graduate Internships Application Deadline -- Friday, March 30 Still thinking you might want to do a summer or post graduate internship? It's getting close to the deadline, but may not be too late. For ideas, check the getting started ideas and "academic year - summer offers" web pages. For summer internships in the Rochester area, you will be limited to applying for a maximum of 120 hours at $8.45 per hour. Room and travel are not considered. Provide a complete and professional application. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. All materials should be typed, not handwritten. Go to the Careers online resources page for help with your résumés. Be sure to include information that is relevant to the intern job description. Don't forget you need to include a Host Application and Intern Summer/Post Grad Job Description form. Don't assume. Remember, the committee members reviewing your application may not know you, so a little detail may be necessary. Provide supplementary materials about the organization and/or provide hardcopy of any particularly relevant website pages. Complete information on the summer/post graduate process is available here. Need more help? Set an appointment with Leslie! ALP Advising March There are still advising times available the week of March 26. Sign up in the ALP office. Advising sessions are no longer required, but strongly recommended for those of you 2 of 5 7/24/17, 3:50 PM

3 considering summer or academic year internships. No need for advising but want to pre-register for a Fall ALP course?
