The St. Felix Pantry board of directors, staff members, crew of volunteers and even I have been pleasantly overwhelmed during the past several months with the outpouring of support, kindness and generosity that has been shown by the Rio Rancho community and surrounding counties. Rio Rancho is a community with a history of taking care of its own, in good times and in bad. The suc- From the Board Chris Castillo St. Felix Pantry board member Christopher B. Castillo, a native of New Mexico, has more than 16 years of experience working for Fortune 500 companies in business development, strategic sales and client management. His focus has been in employee benefits, group insurance, workforce management, business process outsourcing and financial services. Since joining Aon Risk Solutions Client Services West office in Albuquerque in 2011, Chris has effectively managed the new business development and sales process, leading to record-breaking new business revenue growth for Aon s New Mexico Office. As a result, Chris understands the value of cultivating and maintaining strong working relationships, as well as the importance of helping clients meet their business goals and objectives. Chris primary responsibilities include new client acquisition, business development, and network/ channel relationship development and management. He has a B.B.A. degree in Finance and Business Management from the Anderson School of Management at the University of New Mexico Chris has served as a board member at St. Felix Pantry for more than three years. cess of the St. Felix Pantry is a testament to that care and compassion. Without the support of the many schools, businesses, organizations and individuals who have sacrificed in order to provide for our neighbors in need, St. Felix Pantry would simply not exist. The struggle by those in need would be even greater. The need is more critical today than it is has been in many years, and everyone is dealing with rising grocery bills and other economic issues. Yet Rio Rancho and the surrounding communities continue to give. Special acknowledgement goes out to the Friends of St. Felix, who each month receive this monthly newsletter, purchase items on our most needed list, and drop those off at the Pantry. The St. Felix Pantry team and the Friends of the Pantry have proven to be a winning combination allowing us to provide a vast selection of nonperishable food to our guest families We all hope that someday our services will no St. Felix Pantry s Grocery Bag Sr. Mary Angela Parkins longer be needed. But in the meantime we want to provide the best services that we can. And the community of Rio Rancho and those that surround the Pantry are helping us to do just that. 4 Page 4 St. Felix Pantry s Grocery Bag Food for thought Community Action Councils at the heart of a big company Wherever General Mills Inc. has a U.S. manufacturing facility, the company creates Community Action Councils that enlist its employees to partner with the General Mills Foundation. General Mills has a production facility in Albuquerque, NM, that is just 13 miles from St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho. As part of the company s Community Action Councils, groups of General Mills employees volunteer their time to help the company give back both financially and through volunteer efforts to their local communities. They make Foundation grant recommendations and organize volunteer opportunities in their communities. St. Felix Pantry has a group of friends in the local General Mills CAC who advocate on the Pantry s behalf for funding. We are so grateful for their continuing support of St. Felix Pantry and the significant impact they are having throughout New Mexico.
