Director of Development Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance The Director of Development advances the Cultural Alliance s mission and programs by developing and implementing short- and long-term strategies to meet the organization s contributed income goals. This position manages the full-time Associate Director of Development position. Primary Role & Responsibilities Develop and implement an annual and long-range fundraising plan. Collaborate with senior management team to create, cultivate, and steward relationships with institutional funders and individual donors. Oversee preparation of effective funder communications, including proposals, reports, case statements, and appeal letters. Supervise grants calendar and production of timely funder communications. Develop and implement individual giving strategies to cultivate both major donors and grassroots supporters Generate management reports and budgets regarding progress toward foundation, government, and individual giving goals. Review/reconcile development results with Finance department as part of the budget process. Manage Board Development committee and engage Board members in achieving fundraising goals. Manage Development staff, including recruitment, supervision, coaching, performance reviews, etc. and represent their work within the Alliance. Serve on the senior leadership team. Serve as an ambassador for the Cultural Alliance in the community. Cultivate relationships with key community leaders and organizations to enhance fundraising effectiveness. Skills and Experience A Bachelor s degree is required for this position, and a Master s degree is preferred. The Director of Development must possess excellent leadership and development skills. Previous development experience, as well as knowledge of the regional cultural and political landscape, are also desired. The Director of Development should have a demonstrated track record of achievement in these areas, with a proven ability to develop strategies and implement successful plans of action. 2 Director of Major and Planned Giving Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation Director of Major and Planned Giving will create and implement efforts to increase major and planned gifts for the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation. This highly experienced development professional will work with the President, Vice President, Assistant Vice President, development team and volunteer leadership as needed for cultivation and solicitation activities. Major Responsibilities: Design and implement a comprehensive plan for increasing major unrestricted gifts, especially through planned giving instruments. Develop strategy for marketing planned giving program. Develop appropriate solicitation and briefing materials, including personalized letters and tailored proposals. Establish strategies and manage programs to educate donors about planned giving opportunities and to increase the number of these commitments. Participate in face-to-face solicitations and gift negotiations. Attend weekend and evening events as required. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. This position will meet with donors to cultivate and solicit for annual fund, emphasizing $5,000+, and cultivate and solicit planned gifts. The position is expected to work closely with donors and prospects as well as the Executive Director of Foundation Relations, fellow development staff and all co-workers. 70% of time will be spent visiting with and cultivating prospects in-person. The Director will manage a prospect pool of 100+ prospects to cultivate, solicit and steward. The Director will also be responsible for developing programs and projects that strategically engage alumni in strengthening programs and provide tangible benefits to alumni and current students. The Director is charged with securing commitments from alumni to provide professional expertise and volunteer service; collaborating with colleagues in the administrative and academic departments to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of the College; partnering with Foundation colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving; and serving as liaison to the Alumni Board. The Director will plan and implement activities and services to grow the Alumni Program. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor s degree required * A minimum of four years of development experience with a demonstrated record of successful fundraising. 3 Planned Giving Representative The Salvation Army Manage the Army s relationship with an assigned caseload of prospects and donors for the cultivation, promotion and closure of planned gifts within and for the benefit of the Division or corps/units within the Division. Develop and implement a communications and stewardship plan for each assigned constituent, and solicit gifts with a view toward facilitating major and ultimate gift commitments. Work to successfully fulfill financial and activity goals agreed upon for each fiscal year. Provide proper estate and gift planning education, counsel, wording and strategy development to donors, prospects, volunteers and volunteer groups (including advisory boards / committees), financial advisors, Salvation Army officers, and employees. Support the development and implementation of the planned giving strategic plan and marketing efforts. Maintain organized, meticulous records in the divisional donor database (Raiser s Edge) related to donors and prospects.with the support of the Planned Giving Administrative Assistant. Requirements: Bachelor s degree. Significant experience in planned giving or related financial planning work. Demonstrated record of cultivating and closing individual gifts. Superior customer service skills. Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills. The ability to proactively follow through on assigned tasks and plans in a timely manner and to take initiative. Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army. Have or earn within three years from date of hire a level of certification applicable to planned giving, such as: CFP, ChFC, JD, CAP, CFA, CGPA, CGPP or other approved designation. The Director of Major Gifts will coordinate meetings of campaign volunteers, support volunteers fundraising efforts, and produce campaign-related collateral material (e.g., campaign e-newsletters, solicitation packets, etc.). 4 Development Manager Resources for Human Development (RHD) is a large and diverse nonprofit social service agency headquartered in Philadelphia, with 160 programs in 14 states. RHD is seeking a Development Manager to join its Marketing, Communications & Development team. The Development Manager will grow individual/major donor giving; research, cultivate and solicit corporate support; and market RHD s services to governmental entities. Responsibilities In collaboration with the Development Director, develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive annual development and governmental marketing plan Keep informed of developments in philanthropy and fund development.
