5 OUR APPROACH TO GIVING Independent Bank pursues effective, sustained community involvement at all levels. To create the greatest possible impact, we leverage a powerful combination of local funding and volunteerism, both addressing the needs of the community and supporting the passions of our employees. 5

6 FUNDING PRIORITIES Community Development We support organizations and programs working in low- to moderate-income communities that focus on small business development, financial literacy, affordable housing, and job training. Education We support programs that promote academic achievement for low- to moderateincome students and facilitate merit-based access to higher education for underrepresented groups. Health and Human Services We support organizations that help ensure access to quality health education programs and health care in low- to moderate-income areas. We also fund basic needs assistance and child care service when offered in tandem with other selfsufficiency initiatives. 6

7 PROGRAMS THAT Scale best practices and proven ideas or pilot promising, evidence-based programs Utilize sound evaluation techniques to inform program design and measure both outcomes and impact Demonstrate a commitment to innovation, learning, and adaptation Are completed in partnership, cooperation, and consultation with other agencies Offer an innovative and promising approach to meeting a community need 7

8 ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Organizations must have a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt designation from the Internal Revenue Service. Proposed projects/programs must serve low- to moderate-income individuals and/or families. Organizations must demonstrate fiscal and administrative stability. Organizations previously awarded an IB Community Grant must be in good standing. Organizations must be located in and/or serve populations in the market areas of Independent Bank. 8

10 FUNDING LIMITATIONS Grant funding is not available for the following: Sponsorships, events, or projects for which Independent Bank and/or its employees receive tangible benefits or privileges Organizations that discriminate on the basis of race, gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or any other status or other classification protected by federal, state, or local law Religious organizations that are not engaged in a significant project that is nonsectarian and benefits a broad base of the community Political action committees, political causes, or candidates Capital costs (brick and mortar, the purchase of capital equipment, or other capital projects) 10

11 LOI EVALUATION CRITERIA Does this project serve low- and/or moderate-income individuals or families? How well does this project align with our funding priorities? Does this project present an innovative approach to meeting challenges in our communities? Does this project foster collaboration with other area nonprofit community partners? Does this project have the potential to broaden programs to reach additional geographic areas with the communities we serve? Does this project address the community s expressed needs through an evidence-based approach? 11

14 CREATING AN ACCOUNT Please note: All users (new and returning) will need to sign up for an account. All notifications concerning the status of your application will be sent to the you sign up with. When possible, please use a generic address associated with your organization. 14

15 SUBMITTING THE LOI The LOI must be: No more than two pages Submitted electronically through our online application portal Submitted by Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. CST/5:00 p.m. MST 15

16 LOI SUBMISSION GUIDELINES The LOI should include: Details about the program/project you would like Independent Bank to consider funding The estimated cost of the proposed project/program The amount of funds you are seeking The results you anticipating being able to achieve for those you serve and how those results are aligned with Independent Bank s funding priorities Information about your organization and its ability to implement the program or project Names, affiliations, and roles of any project/program partners 16

18 GRANT CYCLE TIMELINE Stage 1: Letter of Inquiry (LOI) November 5, 2018 Online application portal opens at ibtx.com/grants November 29, 2018 Deadline for all applicants to submit LOIs January 11, 2019 All applicants are notified via about the status of their LOI submission. Those submitting promising LOIs will be invited to submit a full proposal. Stage 2: Full Proposal February 1, 2019 Full proposals are due via our online application portal April 2019 Applicants are notified about final funding decisions 18
