2 One Stop Shops for Medicare 2019 Tuesday, October 23 and Tuesday, November 27 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The Medicare Open Enrollment period is October 15 through December 7, but don t fret! Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP) specialists will be on hand to assist you in every way possible with one-on-one counseling. HICAP will run a Prescription Drug comparison, assist you in completing an Extra Help application to help with drug costs (for income eligible seniors), and provide counseling on Medicare Advantage Plans, Medigap, Retiree Plans, Employer Group Plans and Medi-Cal. Make sure the plan you have meets your needs! No appointment is required, but please bring your completed Part D Prescription Drug Comparison Worksheet. Worksheets are available at the Senior Center by calling at (805) or you can pick one up at the main desk. Changes In Rummage Around Your House! Tuesday, October 16 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. The only thing that is constant is change and Medicare is no exception! However, as we age our bodies have different needs and certain nutrients become especially important for sustaining good health. This presentation will cover tips for building a healthy plate, important nutrients for seniors, and how to eat healthy on a budget. Presenter Teresa Diaz earned her Bachelors of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics from San Jose State University and completed her dietetic internship at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Thursday, October 25, :30-2:30 p.m. Buckle up and join us as members of the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Senior Volunteers present their AGE WELL DRIVE SMART educational program. This program is a cooperative effort between the CHP, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the senior driver community and is designed to provide older drivers with the keys to Driving Safer and Driving Longer. Learn about the key physical and functional changes and physical warning signs that we all experience as we age. These important warning signs may be an indication of diminishing driving skills. The presentation also offers tactics for making sure the technology of new vehicles is being used effectively to support the senior driver in their goal to drive safely as long as possible.
