1 W&J MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY PLACES 28TH AT NCAA REGIONALS (11/15) WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Washington & Jefferson College men's cross country team placed 28th of 43 teams on Saturday at the 2008 NCAA Division III Mideast Regionals hosted by Waynesburg University. Due to injuries, the Presidents' women were forced to compete as individuals only. Senior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) highlighted the W&J finishers by earning another All-Region award after a career-best regional finish of 14th place (23:02) in a 305-runner field. Long will find out Sunday if she earns an at-large invitation to the NCAA Division III Championships. Freshman Michael Shea (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) led the men's squad with a 148th-place finish of 306 runners. Shea posted a time of 28:28. Sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) earned 152nd place (28:32), while junior Bryan Hanrahan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) finished three seconds behind (28:35) in 155th place. Freshman Jason Lee (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) claimed 168th place (28:52), while junior Will Seymour (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) rounded out Washington & Jefferson's top five finishers in 176th place (29:05). In the women's division, senior Megan Duffett (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) grabbed 101st place (25:10), while freshman Kate Loy (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) took 245th place (28:56). Senior Kelli Hartman (Mars, Pa./Mars) rounded out the W&J finishers in 272nd place with a time of 30:25. W&J S CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS PLACE FOURTH AT PAC CHAMPIONSHIPS; FOUR EARN ALL-PAC AWARDS (11/1) WEST CHESTER, Ohio -- Senior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Twp.) placed fourth out of 70 runners at the 2008 Presidents Athletic Conference Women s Cross Country Championships hosted by Thomas More on Saturday morning at Voice of America Park. Long, who placed third in last season's championships, helped W&J notch fourth place in the team standings after completing the 6K course in a time of 22:35. Long earned First Team All- PAC honors for their fourth consecutive season. Grove City captured both team titles for the 19th consecutive season. The GCC men garnered 18 points, while Thiel (68), Westminster (75), W&J (78), Thomas More (150) and Waynesburg (158) rounded out the standings.

2 The Wolverine women won the title with 21 team points. Waynesburg was second with 73 points followed by Westminster (94), W&J (103), Bethany (125), Thiel (157), Thomas More (169) and Chatham (184). Senior Matthew Toldero (Glenolden, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) paced the W&J men after claiming 14th place, crossing the finish line in 28:21. He earned Second Team All-PAC laurels. Senior Megan Duffett (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) finished 10th (23:42) and collected Second Team All-PAC accolades, while freshman Laura Procario (Collegeville, Pa./Spring- Ford) posted a 30th-place showing (26:34). Senior Kelli Hartman (Mars, Pa./Mars) placed 36th (27:05), while freshman Kaitlyn Loy (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) crossed the tape in 43rd place (27:45). First-year runner Liann Correia (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) also placed 58th (30:00). Junior Bryan Hanrahan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) was the 15th-place finisher (28:31) on the men's side and was a Second Team All-PAC performer. Sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) finished in 16th place (28:34), while freshman Michael Shea (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) finished in 17th place (28:35). Junior Will Seymour (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) and freshman Jason Lee (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) finished just outside the top 20 at 21st and 23rd place, respectively. Both W&J squads return to action in two weeks at the NCAA Mideast Regional hosted by Waynesburg University. W&J S ERIN LONG SETS SCHOOL RECORD AT OBERLIN (10/18) OBERLIN, Ohio Senior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Twp.) set a new school record to lead the Washington & Jefferson cross country programs on Saturday at the Oberlin College Inter-Regional Rumble. Long placed 15th of 232 runners in the women s 6K race with a time of 22:21. Sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) posted the men s top finish with a 157th-place showing out of 270 competitors. Case Western Reserve won the women s team title, while New York University placed first in the men s standings. The W&J women garnered 20th of 27 squads, while the men placed 28th of 30. Jesse Snyder of NYU won the men s 8K race with a time of 24:43, while Joanna Johnson (21:03) of Oberlin claimed the women s individual title.

3 Senior Megan Duffett (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) and sophomore Laura Procario (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) both also recorded personal best times for the W&J women. Duffett finished 120th (24:16), while Procario crossed the finish line in 187th place (26:11). Senior Kelli Hartman (Mars, Pa./Mars) grabbed 207th place (28:02) and freshman Liann Correia (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) placed 215th (29:14). First-year runner Kate Loy (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) notched 221st place (30:43). Howard recorded a time of 27:44 to pace the Presidents men. Freshman Michael Shea (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) finished close behind in 158th place (27:46), while junior Will Seymour (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) turned in a 176th-place finish (28:32). Sophomore Richard Koch (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) amassed a time of 28:32 to tie Seymour, while senior Matthew Toldero (Glenolden, Pa./Cardinal O Hara), junior Bryan Hanrahan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) and freshman Jason Lee (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) rounded out the W&J competitors after finishing 180th-182nd. Toldero posted a time of 28:39 to edge Hanrahan by two seconds. Lee finished the course in 28:57. Both Washington & Jefferson squads will have a week off to prepare for the Presidents Athletic Conference Championships which will be held Nov. 1st in Crestview Hills, Ky., on the Thomas More College campus. The W&J men claimed second place at last year s championship event, while the women took third place. PRESIDENTS CONTINUE SEASON IN STRONG FIELD AT SRU (10/4) SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Washington & Jefferson College men's and women's cross country teams posted 19th and 25th place finishes, respectively, on Saturday at the Slippery Rock Pre- National Invitational. SRU will host the Division II National Championships in November. The men's squad took 19th place of 22 teams, which including NCAA Division I, II and III programs. The women's team notched 25th place of 29 squads in the 6K race. The University of California-San Diego won the men's team 8K championship with 52 points. California State (Los Angeles) and Slippery Rock tied for the women's title with 107 points. The W&J women collected 648 points and the men's team garnered 520 points. The women's squad was paced by senior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Twp.) who placed 39th in a 292-runner field. She was second among NCAA Division III runners with her time of 23:45.

4 Senior Megan Duffett (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Holidaysburg) claimed 124th place (26:15), while sophomore Laura Procario (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) earned 146th place (26:58). Senior Kelli Hartman (Mars, Pa./Mars) finished in 166th place (27:51) and freshman Kate Loy (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) collected 173rd place (28:31). Freshman Liann Correia (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) rounded out the W&J competitors in 184th place (30:02). The Washington & Jefferson College men were led by freshman Michael Shea (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields), who placed 78th in a field of 237 competitors. He posted a time of 28:31. Junior Bryan Hanrahan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) placed 102nd (29:14), while sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) grabbed 107th place (29:37). Junior Will Seymour (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) crossed the finish line in 115th place (29:50), while sophomore Richard Koch (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) turned in a 118th place showing (29:59). Freshman Jason Lee (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) and senior Travis Bui-Klimke (Coraopolis, Pa./West Allegheny) rounded out the W&J runners in 120th and 128th place, respectively. Lee ran the course in 30:07, while Bui-Klimke racked up a time of 31:11. Washington & Jefferson has two weeks to prepare for its next event, the Oberlin College Inter- Regional Rumble on Oct. 18th at 10:30 am in Ohio. PRESIDENTS COMPETE AT DICKINSON; LONG PLACES EIGHTH (9/20) CARLISLE, Pa. The Washington & Jefferson College men s and women s cross country teams competed in their second meet of the season on Saturday at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational. The invitational featured two races for both men and women. The men s side featured a 4K and an 8K race, while the women ran a 4K and a 6K. Dickinson won both combined championships. In the combined standings, the W&J men placed 18th of 19 squads with the host Red Devils winning the championship. Johns Hopkins took the women s crown and the Presidents claimed 14th place of 15 teams. The women s squad was led by senior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Twp.), who grabbed eighth place in the women s 6K 91-runner division with a time of 23:33. Senior Megan Duffett (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Hollidaysburg) ran in 40th place (25:12), while freshman Kate Loy (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) claimed 81st place (28:26). Sophomore Laura Procario (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) placed 103rd in the 197-runner field in the 4K with a time of 17:10. Senior Kelli Hartman (Mars, Pa./Mars) finished 146th (18:05),

5 while freshman Liann Correia (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) posted a 167th-place showing (18:41). The men s top finish was recorded by sophomore Richard Koch (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) in the 188-runner 4K field. He placed 94th in a time of 13:51. Junior Will Seymour (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) crossed the finish line in 101st place (13:54), while senior Travis Bui- Klimke (Coraopolis, Pa./West Allegheny) finished 118th (14:50). Freshman Adam Toomey (Youngwood, Pa./Hempfield) notched 124th place (14:52). Freshman Michael Shea (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) topped the W&J runners in the 8K with a 103rd place finish (28:55). A total of 192 student-athletes competed in the race. Sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) notched a time of 29:27 to place 121st, while senior Matthew Toldero (Glenolden, Pa./Cardinal O Hara) ran the course in 29:30 to place 124th. Junior Bryan Hanrahan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) placed 129th (29:42) and freshman Jason Lee (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) rounded out the W&J competitors in 144th place (30:16). W&J takes a week off before returning to action on Oct. 4th at the Slippery Rock Invitational (11:00 am). HOWARD COLLECTS PAC WEEKLY AWARD (9/9) WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) {right} was named the Presidents Athletic Conference Runner of the Week on Monday afternoon by the conference office. Howard claimed a fifth-place crown at the Washington and Lee Cross Country Invitational last Saturday in Lexington,Va., with a time of 29:50, helping the Presidents to a third-place finish out of 11 teams at the meet. The fifth-place finish is the best finish the sophomore has posted as a President, eclipsing his former top finish of 12th place, which he accomplished twice as a freshman. The first of the two coming at the Ursinus Invitational where he recorded a time of 30:05 and the second showing was at the Allegheny Classic when he ran a 29:07. The sophomore s best collegiate finish came at the NCAA Mid-East Regional meet in Bethlehem, Pa., when he posted a time of 27:55, placing him 148th overall. W&J CROSS COUNTRY OPENS 2008 SEASON IN VIRGINIA (9/6)

6 LEXINGTON, Va. - Three-time All-Region performer senior Erin Long (McMurray, Pa./Peters Twp.) and sophomore Andrew Howard (Moon Twp., Pa./Moon) posted top-five finishes to highlight Washington & Jefferson College at the Washington and Lee University Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Washington and Lee claimed both team titles. The Presidents' men garnered third place of 11 teams, while the W&J women collected a fourth-place showing among 10 teams. Long placed third in the women's 6K division out of 95 runners with a time of 24:41, while Howard notched fifth place of 93 runners in an 8K men's field with a time of 29:50. Senior Megan Duffett (Hollidaysburg, Pa./Holidaysburg) took 15th place (26:26) for the W&J women, while sophomore Laura Procario (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) grabbed 29th place (27:32). Freshman Kate Loy (Pittsburgh, Pa./South Park) notched 37th place with a time of 28:32, while senior Kelli Hartman (Mars, Pa./Mars) finished 48th (29:42). Freshman Liann Correia (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) placed 56th in a time of 31:17 in her first collegiate meet. Freshman Michael Shea (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) took 15th place (30:40) in the men's race and freshman Jason Lee (Ellicott City, Md./River Hill) followed closely behind in 21st place (31:11). Senior Matthew Toldero (Glenolden, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) placed 28th overall (31:33), while junior Bryan Hanrahan (West Middlesex, Pa./West Middlesex) was the 33rd-place finisher in a time of 32:00. Sophomore Richard Koch (Hartville, Ohio/Lake) posted a 40th-place finish (32:27), while junior Will Seymour (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) rounded out the Presidents' top seven performers in 44th place (32:49). W&J is idle next week, but returns to action on Sept. 20th at the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational (10:30 am).
