9 SANTA CLARA Santa Clara was settled by Jacob Hamblin in 1854 and incorporated in Santa Clara became famous for its fruit production and to this day fruit stands can be found year round. Santa Clara is located in the SW region of Utah, just over 6 miles from St. George, Utah; the largest city outside of the Wasatch Front. St. George is home to Dixie State University hosting 8,570 students each year. Santa Clara is one of the top 20 safest cities in Utah, and is proud of their police department (founded in 2012) and its commitment to keeping residents safe. A recent $10 million project has helped renovate and expand Santa Clara s historic downtown area. The general development plan included making downtown Santa Clara a vibrant arts, cultural, and entertainment district. It also added specialty businesses that offer products and services unique to the region to serve the community s expanding new residents. SANTA CLARA 9

10 SANTA CLARA ATTRACTIONS Santa Clara is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts. The Parks and Trail department is dedicated to protecting and enhancing the park lands, public open spaces, and maintaining over a dozen trails perfect for walking, jogging, and mountain biking. Santa Clara is also within a short distance of Bryce Canyon National Park, Snow Canyon, and Zion s National Park. Tourist sites in Santa Clara include Heritage Square, the Jacob Hamblin Home, Rosenbruch Wildlife Museum, and the popular Tuacahn Amphitheater, which holds numerous productions throughout the year. 10
