Conduct literature review and propose recommendations in a new area of restoration projects supported by Sea Grant. Coordinate ongoing Vision Teams for Sea Grant towards identifying priority goals and implementation steps for the next 10 years. Scientific Consultant. "Think before you drop it": A Research-based Litter Reduction Campaign in Nine Beaches of Guánica, Puerto Rico. Protectores de Cuencas, Inc ; 2016 Designed and developed a litter based reduction campaign among beach visitors. Design and analyzed a Spanish survey for beach visitors regarding their perception and activities around beach cleanups. Completed five technical reports to assist a local nonprofit organization with the first NOAA grant approved for the beaches located in the southwest of Puerto Rico. Graduate Research Assistant. Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) and Direct Marketing. National Sea Grant Law Center. The University of Mississippi School of Law. At-Distance Reviewed literature about community supported fisheries. Conducted a dozen of interviews with CSF business around the United States. Developed drafts for the 2016 publication on CSF titled Connecting Local Seafood Consumers: Direct Marketing 101. HIGHER EDUCATION AND ADMINISTRATION Instructor. Puerto Rico 2-week Visit. Alexandria, VA Analyzed and offered recommendations for the Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), the Nation s flagship federal fellowship program, that receives nearly 12,000 applications and offer 2,000 awards annually across over 200 US institutions. Recruited and trained 33 Facilitators to conduct 49 Virtual Panels for NSF Merit Review. Conducted a grounded theory analysis from Fellow s responses to their annual reports. Designed and implemented a regional outreach effort in six institutions in Los Angeles area at Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSI s) and a community college focused on STEM. Held a Co-Chair committee position in the NSF Science Assistant Community of Practice (SACoP). Mentor & Supervisor. American University & University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez. Guánica, PR Supervised two undergraduate students from low income and first-generation backgrounds to learn and conduct data collection in the field. Assisted one of these students to apply for graduate school upon graduation and entered Urban and Environmental Planning Master s degree at the University of Puerto Rico. Educational Consultant.
