2 Parent & Family Schedule of Events THIS SCHEDULE IS A WORKING DOCUMENT AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE UNTIL AUG 17 Friday, August 17, :00 am 1:00 pm 5:00 pm Campus Offices Open [Various Locations] 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Campus offices will be open to assist students and their families during normal business hours. Please note the Bookstore will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. Residential Student Move-In [Assigned Student Residence Halls] 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm Your student will pick up their room key, meet the Resident Advisor (RA), meet their roommate(s), and move into their room. Campus community members will be assisting you and your student with move-in. (Student must be present.) Shopping in Sugar House and the Salt Lake Valley 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Head to local favorites and pick up those things that your student forgot to pack or did not bring. Your student will be free during this time to meet up with you. Check out the stores within the Salt Lake Valley. Target Smith s Walmart IKEA Costco Old Navy Whole Foods 7:45 pm 8:00 pm Dinner with Family [Off Campus or in the Shaw Student Center] 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Take your student out to dinner in the Sugar House Community. Our community partners have provided many discounts for our new students and their families. If you choose to eat in the Shaw Dining Hall, your student s meal plan is activated for their use with our food service provider, Bon Appetit. Residential Parent Social sponsored by the Parent Relations Team [Jewett Center for the Performing Arts Richer Alcove] 7:45 pm to 9:00 pm Please stop by the Jewett Center, located on the north side of campus for refreshments, local information, and a chance to relax and connect with other parents from your geographic region after the hubbub of move-in. Residential Student Floor Meetings (MANDATORY for Student) [Your Residential Floor] 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm Drop your student back off on campus if they are living in a residence hall so they can meet their Resident Advisor (RA) and students on their floor. Learn what it means to be a member of the Residential Community and the guidelines for campus living. This is only for the student to attend. During this time, you will receive all of your student materials for the day. Your family should also be present to pick up their Parent and Family Orientation items. Breakfast [West Side of Meldrum Science Center] 9:00 am to 10:00 am You are invited to have breakfast and mingle with other students, parents, and staff. If you and your family have lingering questions regarding aid disbursement, current and future scholarships, payment plans, or tax information make sure to visit these offices in Bamberger (Student must be present) ADA Accommodations Disability Services & Testing Center [Lower Level of Giovale Library] - Open 9:00am 12:00 pm You and your family will have an opportunity to learn about the services provided by disability services, learn the steps as to how to register with disability services, and make an appointment to meet with the Director at a later date. Buy/Rent Books for Courses, Pick Out New Westminster Swag, Buy a Frame for Your Future Diploma! Bookstore - [South side of Shaw Student Center] - Open 9:00 am to 2:00 pm Purchase books for the semester or pick-up pre-orders. You may also choose to purchase some Westminster merchandise and utilize the coupon inside your orientation materials for extra savings. Print/Pick-Up ID Card, Climb the Rockwall, Go for a Swim, Play Someone in Ping Pong, Shoot Hoops Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center - [All of HWAC] - Open 9:00am until 5:00 pm Come take a tour of the Eccles Health, Wellness, and Athletic Center. You can get a picture taken and receive a Westminster College ID card. A Westminster Student ID card is required for the residential meal plans, access to Eccles HWAC/Res Halls, riding UTA Transit, and renting library materials.
