2 Who are we? IDSC is Kent State University s umbrella organization for the professional organizations IIDA (International Interior Design Association) and ASID (American Society of Interiors Designers) serving design majors interested in interior design. We desire to support and encourage aspiring interior designers by bringing together all four years of students through social, educational and charity events relating to the design industry.

3 Our Mission The goal of the IIDA Campus Center at Kent State University was to encourage and support aspiring interior designers. We strive for excellence by continuing our involvement in education, community activities and membership recruitment/ marketing. Our duties are to encourage students involvement through IIDA events, Lunch & Learns, firm tours and workshops.

4 Officer Roles Co-President - IIDA Campus Center Leader Co-President - ASID Student Chapter President Co-Presidents are responsible for overseeing the entire organization s flow and progression. Duties include planning and organizing events and meetings, setting goals for the organization, and continuously motivate young professionals engagement. Co-Pres. Elect - IIDA Co-Pres. Elect - ASID Co- President Elects are dedication to creating fliers to campaign events on social media and on-campus, as well as assisting with additional presidential duties to prepare for the next school year.. Secretary - general duties include maintaining all records, files, and data for the organization. A secretary takes meeting minute notes and prepares the officers with meeting agendas.

5 Officer Roles Treasurer - dedicated to collect the organization s collection and distribution of money. The treasurer is responsible to record all expenditures and transactions of the organization s account. Philanthropist - Pursues and organizes events for charity and volunteer opportunities. Our goal is to empower students to contribute to on-campus and off-campus non-profit organization to focus on improving the quality of life of those in our local communities. Student Relations - a new position created this year, dedicated to membership recruitment and retainment. Responsibilities include conducting educational programs, new initiatives, and events that meet student needs. Their overall goal is to promote presence on-campus and in the professional field.

6 Budget/Membership KSU has consistently obtained members yearly. Is it recommended for members to renew their memberships for ASID and IIDA every year. There is an average of 20 students every year who renew their IIDA Student Membership.

7 Budget/Membership The Interior Design Student Collaborative receives $800 as seed money. This money is used for participation in Entertaining by Design, the Design Arts Ball, and T-Shirts upfront cost. Additional money raised is for member events and local charities. IDSC has consistently ended the year with a large profit, any additional money is donated to scholarship funds, CIDA, and DIFFA (Design Industry Foundation for Aids).

10 Mentorship Program and Campus Involvement Mentor Program The class has been working our refining our mentoring program within our organization. We started the year off with an ice cream social to inform students about the program. We then paired students with selected mentors. In the start of 2016 we had more events for the students to get to know one another such as our portfolio share night. The mentor program strives to connect the younger students with an upperclassmen to help them through their time in school along with creating lifelong relationships. Campus Involvement IDSC has gained more recognition from Kent State University by our involvement with on-campus activities and events such as: Relay for Life and Blast-Off. Our organization works in conjunction with other student organizations such as: AIAS, USGBC, and Habitat for Humanity. Senior Presentations Relay for Life

11 IDSC in the Community We ve been working with organizations outside of the university as well, by volunteering at IIDA Zerolandfill, AIA/IIDA Design Awards, Design [RE]Build Program, Campus Soup Kitchen and Habitat for Humanity. Akron Zerolandfill Design [Re]Build

12 Branding The class developed a new logo for our organization to create a consistent brand for years to come. Our organization has never had a consistent logo, so this new brand will help future marketing efforts, creating a more consistent presence in our college. The two blocks represent the two student chapters: IIDA and ASID, while the blue arrow represents the collaboration between the two professional organizations. A more simplified version of the logo was created for merchandise sales.

13 Marketing In order to create interest among students, we market our events with flyers, s and social media. We have facebook, instagram and twitter pages to announce upcoming event as well as advertise what we are doing.

14 Future Outlook This past year we really focused on how to bring together all four years of design students and how they can form a strong bond for upcoming years. We hope that our efforts will inspire younger students to continue to connect with professionals and other creatives in the field.
