2 FORESTRY FIELD DAY Jacob Hunter, Benjamin Lope, Tommy Wilmoth, Abby Sallee, Rachel Lope, Baines Turner, Stauge Jones and Lincoln Miller par cipated in the State 4 H Forestry Field Day at Mammoth Cave in September. Compe on areas included tree iden fica on, tree measurement and compass and pacing. At le, Benjamin Lope placed 1st in Senior Tree Measurement. TEEN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY STATE COMMUNICATIONS The Teen Leadership Academy program held their orienta on at Camp Loucon for the program year. LaRue County par cipants are Kalli Flanders, Alexis Grimes, Holden Madriaga Bailey Rogers, Clay Rogers and Tara Warren. LaRue County brought home State Champion awards in 3 of the 11 categories of the State Communica ons Contest. Candyce Counts was selected as the Kentucky 4 H Wri en Communica on Contest Champion in Senior Songwri ng and Senior Monologue. Madison Wilmoth was selected as Champion in Junior PSA. Congratula ons to both.
3 COUNTRY HAM AUCTION Thanks to all of the buyers! Brandon Reed won the bid for the County Grand Champion Ham sold by Brayden McCandless. Benjamin Lope sold his County Reserve Champion Ham to Dewey McCarol of Southern States. The second annual 4 H Country Ham Auc on took place during Lincoln Days on Saturday, October 1st. Seventeen of the nineteen 4 H age par cipants decided to sell one of their two project hams. Sellers included: Abby Sallee, Andrew Reding, Jamie Grimes, Alexis Grimes, Benjamin Lope, Kalli Flanders, Tommy Wilmoth, Madison Wilmoth, Brayden McCandless, Lincoln Miller, Camrin Williams, Kelsey Hornback, Gabe For er, Amaris Lane, Sage Garris and not pictured, Mason Lane and Kaleb Miller. In total $ was raised. Eighty percent of the sale price will go to the individual seller and twenty percent will go back to ham project to pay for supplies for next year. Special thanks to Bobby Dobson for auc oneering the event and to Farm Bureau Federa on for dona ng $500 towards par cipant fees for the 2017 program. Please contact 4 H Agent, Misty Wilmoth with any ques ons! 4-H RECORD BOOKS The 4 H Record Book Deadline is Monday, October 17th All 4 H members are encouraged to complete record forms on their 4 H projects. If you need the record book forms, they are available at the Extension Office. Books are available for all project areas. All record book par cipants and winners will be recognized at the Annual 4 H Awards Banquet, to be held on Monday, December 5th. Record book par cipants from last year also get to a end the annual Achievement Trip for comple ng their 4 H Record Book. They began working on the cloverbud record books and enjoyed other ac vi es and snacks. The cloverbud program is open to youth ages 5 to 8 years old or K 3rd grades. The next mee ng will be held on Monday, October 17th at 3:30 p.m. at the Extension Office. This mee ng will also include the 4 H Pumpkin Decora ng Contest. Li le Caesar s Pizza Kits are now available for purchase from 4 H Teen Club members. The 4 H Teen Club is open to 4 H youth in 7th 12th grades. Club members made taco salads during their last mee ng.
