1 AVON COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION NEW SCHOOL YEAR GUIDE 08-9 FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: Wednesday, August, 08
2 A Message from the Superintendent It is a joy to welcome new and returning students and families to Avon Community Schools. Our dedicated educational team (teachers, principals, bus drivers, food service employees and many others) is ready to share optimal and engaging educational experiences with your child. We always strive to provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students. Our district is guided by three goals: All ACSC students will have equitable access to st Century educational experience. All ACSC students will grow academically. All ACSC students will have opportunities to develop in a safe and nurturing culture that supports the whole child. I encourage you to get involved early and stay engaged in your child s learning environment. Take advantage of volunteer opportunities it s a great way to connect to your child s school. Be sure to connect with your child s teacher as soon as possible. Open dialogue is always encouraged. This helps to ensure that his/her educational needs are being met. And you will hear from us, too. We will share communication in various formats (newsletters, school websites, parent portals and social media). And, if you have ideas or concerns, please let us know. Our doors will swing open for more than 9,500 students and families this school year. We are excited to embark on a new and engaging chapter of the Avon Experience! Sincerely, Dr. Maggie Hoernemann
