This profile will feature county trends and statistics for s American Indian and Alaska Native Alone population. Total 00 s American Indian and Alaska Native population is continuing to grow both in numbers and as a percentage of the total population. The state added,0 persons between 000 and 00. The nine largest counties based on the number of American Indian and Alaska Natives are parts of s Kansas City (4,), (4,), Joplin (3,) and Springfield (,6) urban population centers. McDonald (663), in the south west corner of, rounds out the top ten. Half of s counties have fewer than 00 American Indian and Alaska Natives persons. January 0 Department of Economic D evelopment

Conversely, fifteen of the 0 slowest growing counties saw positive growth return in the 000s. Many of the south eastern and north central counties reversed their growth between the 000 and 00 census. had the fastest growth rate (600%), followed by Sullivan (4%) and Clinton (%) counties.
