1 Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling Commencement Ceremony Sunday, June 3, 208 Faculty In case of rain, the commencement website will be updated by 7 a.m. Sunday morning with rain call announcement. By 9 a.m. Arrive to campus, parking in the Lower Templeton Parking Lot (see map) The Graduate and Forest Residence Hall parking lots will be available, as well. Bring your regalia. 9:00 a.m. Catered Commencement Robing and Reception in the Trail Room, Templeton Center (or in Pamplin Room 0, in case of rain call; located on the lower level of Pamplin entering the building, the room is immediately to the left of the outside door leading to the football stadium). 9:40 a.m. At the direction of the faculty marshals, move to the road between Gregg Memorial Pavilion and the Manor House Circle (or to Pamplin Reception Desk, in case of Rain Call ). 9:50 a.m. Processional: Honor the candidates for degrees as they pass and then join in the processional following the candidates and faculty marshals. 0:00 a.m. Ceremony: Once degree candidates have been hooded, exited the platform, and have had their photo taken in front of the Manor House screen, program faculty are welcome to stand and offer congratulations. During the summer, permits are required only for parking on the Law and Graduate campuses. Accessible parking for disabled persons is reserved on all campuses. Safety can assist in locating a space. Covered bike parking is available at J.R. Howard Hall and Watzek Library. Rev. Dr. Duntley hands the diploma cover to President Wiewel who hands it to the graduate. Graduates receive congratulations from other platform party members. Pictures are taken at hooding, receipt of diploma cover and off-stage on the right. Graduate returns to their seat. 4 Lewis & Clark Graduate School Commencement Sunday, June 3, 208 *Rain Plan * In case of rain, the graduate school s commencement website will be updated by 7 a.m. Sunday morning with rain call announcement. 6:00 a.m. Sharon Chinn makes Rain Call and informs key event staff if going with rain plan By 7:00 a.m. The rain call announcement is posted on the graduate school s commencement website. Morning All staff, platform party members, and vendors arrive to campus and to their designated locations as scheduled, with the following exceptions: Mark Mullaney (bagpiper) report to Pamplin Graduates, Student Marshals, & Stamm Team report to Pamplin Hall of Fame Hallway Faculty and Faculty Marshals report to Pamlin Room 0 9:40 a.m. Mace Bearer Carol Doyle moves to Pamplin Reception Desk, joining the bagpiper. Faculty--At the direction of faculty marshals Lana Kim and Dawn Montgomery, faculty move to Pamplin Reception Desk. Platform Party--At the direction of host Murray Cizon, the Platform Party members take umbrellas (provided in Armstrong Lounge) and move to Pamplin Reception Desk. Upon arrival in Pamplin, members hand off their umbrellas to ushers and then assemble in front of the desk. Faculty and Platform Party members, in that order, line up on either side of the hallway by the reception desk so that they can honor candidates for graduation during the processional. 9:50 a.m. Processional Pamplin At the direction of Gena Perrine, Columbia Brass will cease playing and the bagpiper will begin playing outside under the overhang in front of the Pamplin processional entry door; the mace bearer will move to the entry door into the arena. After one song The bagpiper will process, by himself, to the front of Pamplin. He will stop on the floor in front of the podium, complete his song, and then exit the arena. As he completes his song, Columbia Brass starts playing the processional music. Once the Columbia Brass starts playing, the processional commences in this order: Mace bearer (Carol Doyle) Two student marshals Candidates for degrees Third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh student marshals Faculty marshals Faculty Platform Party 0:00 a.m. Ceremony From this point, on, the ceremony proceeds as planned with one final change Dean Fletcher s final remark will be: I invite you to join us for a reception in STAMM DINING HALL :45 a.m. Recessional (approx.)
